She should have her niece identify as a POC. Problem solved. In fact all of us should. Once we all receive favoritism then maybe it will stop.

I can tell you all sorts of ridiculous stories from inside the Stanford admissions office. My SIL is the former director of undergraduate admissions.

I have a name that could easily be interpreted as a "black" name and I never put my race on any kind of application. Almost always get interviews

Just listened to a podcast that covered this topic. The "elite" colleges who are doing this, which is most of them, were compared to a dead whale. Their reputation has been built over a long time, and that inertia will work for a while, but eventually you've just got a rotting carcass.
Industry that has to perform has already taken notice.

Ive worked in higher education for 20 years. The stories I have heard, even if half true, are amazing. I'm committed to pushing conservatism in this field - there are more of us than people think, but many have been silenced.

The silent question in peoples mind will soon be, how did poc “professionals” get their degree. Covid should have taught us the once noble medical field has been corrupted
