It’s not. I’m totally anti-AA, but that assertion with those creds is total bullshite.

Calling a spade a spade is just an accurate description, not being a victim. I’m a long time removed from college admissions.
Maybe preferential treatment based on skin tone is dear to you because it’s how you got admitted?

I’m speaking about the student who blamed not being admitted on 7% of the student body.

There is nothing about this topic that is “dear” to me.

Ive worked in higher education for 20 years. The stories I have heard, even if half true, are amazing. I'm committed to pushing conservatism in this field - there are more of us than people think, but many have been silenced.
When you remove merit from the process of college admission, career progression anything. You get train wrecks and bridge collapses.
you will thank me later as this, yet another major reason why the time has come for a national DIVORCE has come... NOW

Your thoughts are exactly mine as we have just lived through this. Without details (or pics) my daughter was highly competitive for Ivy admission. Got waitlisted at Yale. My experience listening to the admission counselor while on a group visit at Vanderbilt is this. If you go Early Decision, this is binding whether you get aid or not. So the only ones who can afford to do this are those who can write a check for $75000+. Your admission chances are improved to approx 10% since the applicant pool is so much smaller. ED admissions are a majority of the class. If you apply in the general applicant pool your odds are about 0.3%. That’s the part of the class that includes athletic scholarships and those to “meet the needs of a well rounded admission class”. So smart kids are really competing for VERY few spots. The ability to buy your way into these schools is a way bigger issue than diversity issues. She ultimate chose to go to UGA honors college. Far more affordable even with out of state tuition. These are the kids employers should be seeking - high achievers with the common sense to make a financially wise choice. Equally smart kids that go to Harvard because of legacy status or Daddy’s check may not perform as well when life gets real.
The thing that really chapped my arse was that they kept stating how they were “need blind” and that they didn’t want those in need to have to carry debt after college. The hypocrisy was amazing. The ED system is completely about the money and they know it. Keep calling this out especially at the hiring level.

Can her niece code? If not, can she learn to code?

Why lie? You posted about it repeatedly.
Do you believe lowballing your interest is virtuous?
That would dovetail nicely with the rest of your horse shite.

Harvard Doesn’t Require SATs
No longer true.

And there is some truth to that, however, take a look at Harvard: GPA: 4.2-4.6 SAT: 1460-1580 (1520 is the avg)
No longer true.

Should go to trade school and learn something useful.

You can slice it however you want. 7% of the student body isn’t stopping you from getting admitted to a school. Although I know it’s easier to play the victim than to actually take some personal responsibility.
Do you want to bet that every single one of the 7% has a betterv academic pedigree than the other poster's kid?
If only 3% of the student body would be black under entirely equal requirements for everyone, then a number of Asians and whites = to 4% of the student body got cheated.
For a school of 20,000 undergrads that would be 800 students (or 200/year).
frick assholes like you who blithely volunteer hundreds of others (10's of thousands yearly across the country) to suffer for your virtue signaling points.
Here is a better idea. The schools should take 120% of the number of freshmen they want to end up with and flunk out the excess 20% in the first year.
Way more than the number of blacks to equal the ending 7% would get in. Then they can earn the right to stay.

Higher education isn't what it used to be, for a lot of reasons.
If I had a teenager now, I'd advise a good trade school or JUCO that offers a solid STEM curriculum. Then transfer with good grades. And be 2 years more mature when they go.
This crap about GPA,, ACT/SAT scores is BS. Extracurricular activities can be padded. The Hollywood folks showed that it's all about $$ and who you know.

Wise choice would be community college for 2 years or a state school.
