Luckily popular opinion and nationwide vote totals are not relevant in any way to the outcome of Presidential elections.

Considering where Trump was in their polls at this time before the 2016 election, this bodes pretty well fine him.

Trump barely beat Hillary, the worst candidate the Democrats have nominated maybe ever. In order to win next year, he'll have to beat someone better than her.
Trump won largely because Obamacare flipped the Midwest. Trump didn't get Obamacare repealed as he promised, so Trump will have to "earn" the Midwest again.
Another factor: Trump won in 2016 against the only candidate who couldn't take him to task for the way he treats women. Whoever wins the Dem-nom next year will likely bring this up as often as possible. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Yep.
And a couple of congressional districts who get to elect one elector.
Let's see Michigan, Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, north Carolina, NH, downeast Maine (1 elector), Omaha Nebraska (1 elector).
Not likely to be many other close ones. AZ?
