CNN now questioning 1st Amendment in headline article

Not linking the thread...but here are some quotes:
quote:
With most Americans hoping this week's expected inauguration protests look nothing like the Capitol siege, questions emerge about unrestrained free expression, long championed by First Amendment theorists as a benefit to society, no matter how ugly and hateful.
quote:
Not all First Amendment scholars are buying the safety valve theory, especially after the deadly episode at the Capitol. They question if extremist speech demands more limitations when it's inextricably linked to the violence at the nation's legislative headquarters, after hateful online rhetoric dovetailed with politicians and activists delivering speeches to revved-up crowds that marched to the Capitol, some bent on insurrection.

Let’s arrest CNN for this opinion and see if they still favor it

What about extremists speech when it’s inextricably linked to actual violence and destruction of private headquarters?
Like the 6 billion in damages this summer. Do the nations legislative headquarters not have insurance?

And, by "ugly and hateful" they mean anything that doesn't march in goosestep with their insane, demented and deranged agenda.

Exactly. They’ll do what they’ve always done, create a dogwhistle word and apply it to anything they don’t like. It doesn’t even have to make sense, it’s hateful.

So who gets to define 'extremist speech'?
And how do you prove this 'extremist speech' was responsible for violence? Because CNN said so?

No true journalist could possibly be for limiting the 1A.

They want European style thought crime laws.

How is this not EVEYRYONE's reaction to this statement?

There are no "true journalists" at CNN, just people like Brian Stetler and Don Lemon.

The actions of any crowd must judged separately from their "speech".
"Protesting" by blocking streets, committing criminal acts, acts of violence, destruction of property and/or assaulting people is NOT speech.
They will try and use acts to limit speech, but they are completely different issues.
