This was actually a good report with new information. At the end, though, they remembered they were CNN and had to blame it on Climate Change.

All the employees at CNN should go live off grid and actually do something about this climate tragedy they claim all the time.

This is literally how the landscape of our planet has been formed and changed since the beginning of time.

I watched a non political geologist show satellite imagery which suggests huge landslide- much more than just a glacier. The ice being on top of a huge ridge that peeled away.

Glacial collapse which lead to a ladslide/avalanche. The debris blocked the river, creating a dam, when the water breached the dam it did so catastrophically.

Some of the estimates of water/debris flow heights are just difficult to comprehend. Lots of bends in that river which exacerbated the flow as the debris bottlenecked.

Seeing house-sized boulders being pushed along like they're pebbles is sobering. This is how landscapes are changed, unfortunately sometimes that process is violent.

Clearly climate change is a major reason this happened. Everyone knows the climate is changing and will result in major dislocations for humans - as it has for thousands of years.

That particular report never crossed the bridge into blaming man for climate change. That is the usual point at which these reports become tendentious.

Didn't they say that they now believe it was not an earthquake but that when the glacier/landslide itself it what scored the 5.2, not an earthquake?

That’s correct. It has been determined that it was not an earthquake.

It was the *Nepalese (?) scientist who mentioned climate change. Complete bunk. He knows that saying the magic words keeps the money flowing and puts him in line for grants and getting recognized.

It's 100% a grift, and does a great disservice to science.

* He's from the U. of Dayton, so maybe he's Indian? Don't know, doesn't matter, he's pushing an agenda having zero to do with this seismic event.

They also have pretty bad eyesight at CNN. To go along with a lack of journalistic integrity and shilling for the left.

Large sections of Earth & bedrock can and do give way on their own. The resulting rumble may have been mistaken for a quake, and that's understandable. The fact is that the Indian subcontinent continues to push up and under the Asian landmass, causing the Himalayas to increase in height bit by bit, over time. That much stress and burden gets released in a number of different ways.

See, I'm far from the only one who thinks you're only deserving of ridicule and derision.
