Wow. I’ve been quiet until now, but…
THIS?… what the hell? This map is the worst I’ve seen yet, and I’ve seen many. This Frankenstein looking thing was NO DOUBT drawn up by a very small handful of guys in a secret room. NOBODY should support this insanely bad map.
I am 100% opposed to this latest and worst iteration of proposed Louisiana Congressional Districts.

Keep it simple. Status quo ante.

I'm good with the map. I'm represented by Cleo as of right now. I don't want to represented by Cleo.

This map would split Calcasieu Parish between Districts Three and Four, split St. Landry Parish between Districts Three and Five, and move the southern part of St. Martin Parish out of District Three and into District Six. “What the hell? I guess they tried to sneak some protection in for Scalise and a couple others and not Higgins.

I don't like being represented by a racist idiot.

I would imagine it’s the fact that one if the districts looks like a pair of tweezers and another like a giant L. It’s not necessary to draw districts this way, but politicians did this to protect their races.

Splitting parishes, in general, seems dumb to me.
Posted on 5/28/26 at 5:37 pm to Jebadeb
Yeah, because it'll be much harder for his dumbass to win.

Is this supposed to go 4-2 Republicans? Genuine question. Wont 1 and 6 be likely Democrat wins with BR and NO being the major population centers?

I don’t care for it either.
District 2. Just Terrible.
District 3. Splitting terrebonne, st. Landry and calcasieu. And shouldn’t calcasieu go with Cameron.
North shore gets diluted af.

Louisiana is the armpit of the South.
People talk smack about Mississippi but Louisiana is turrible

He’s completely correct.
That map, specifically the stupid river/NOLA district and the crab claw district it requires around it, is simply indefensible.

Why do our legislators insist on racially gerrymandering another district?

Self preservation.
It's almost reverse racism in a way.

Who would this be?

No. These districts are larger than the major city-parishes. EBR for example leans blue but if you add Livingston and Ascension parishes then it is a strong R district.
Trump won +15 when you combine EBR, Livingston, and Ascension parishes.

Yeah the way Calcasieu is carved up is totally inconsistent with the residents who live there. Essentially it’s tying suburban Lake Charles (Sulphur, Moss Bluff, Gillis, etc.) to Shreveport/Bossier and not the coastal prairie region (Lake Charles, the LNG economy down in Cameron, Jeff Davis Parish) and more broadly Lafayette. No good.
