According to the news report the city officials are worried about running out of water as the detention center doubles the amount of people who live in the town.

They are full of shite.

Thanks, then it was the fault of the planners of it for keeping it from them.

Sounds like someone in charge with Homeland Security didn't do their due diligence and the city didn't ask enough questions. If DHS can buy such a facility, they need to drop a well real quick.

I would think that DHS did investigate what would be needed and what was available before purchase or lease. Are city officials being honest about the ability of the sewer system?

there is not a site within the City that will provide a safe distance from homes, businesses, and schools. The City will not tolerate a failure in security.

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Social Circle unequivocally does not support an ICE detention facility in the City or the surrounding areas. City officials are evaluating what authority, if any, the City has in this matter

The sewage is just the ruse. They know tomorrow they could get a check cut from the Feds for sewage improvements tomorrow. They just down want it

Package waste water treatment plants are available up to 1 MGD. That is 100 gallons per capita per day. Short showers for the inmates.

They can build water tanks and fill them at night. Truck in water to augment if needed until water plant is expanded. Or build their own.

If the municipal plants are at capacity these towns aren’t planning properly.

That’s all I needed to answer my questions. Shame on DHS for not researching this facility as they should. Inefficiency from the government? Nah, never.

They really are not.

Everyone here is on septic for the most part, the water systems in place are not built for the amount of water needed to have that size population added.

This area is rural, old homes built in the 50s. The growth moving away from Atlanta is just now starting to reach this county. Our infrastructure in a lot of regards is really not great. And hasnt been retrofitted in a major way in decades.

FFS people, you think you just build that massive facility and then say "gee wiz I need water and sewage? Here is what the city says about building......

Yes, you must ensure water and sewer capacity before building in Social Circle, Georgia

I have a name and it is for a single person. I do not go by "They". But don't you love it when a city manager who goes by several different pronouns confronts the Feds just because one of the pronouns says so?

You would think, but how confident would you be that they did that?
