These are the same Better Together/Together BR liars that claimed StG was seceding from the City of Baton Rouge and/or EBR Parish.

Broome is likely also behind it in an effort to suppress turnout because anyone that votes to support StG will absolutely be voting Sid for Mayor.

Are you retarded?

The sales tax isn’t going away. It’s either going to the city-parish or to SG. Vote yes and let it fund SG.

I am tired of paying such a high taxes in Louisiana. And they just raised my property tax again. If we vote no on this 2% tax, it goes away. This is not a vote to "transition" the tax, but a vote to lower sales tax in City of SG, especially if they are predicting such a high surplus based on 2%. This is our opportunity to vote for a new lower rate going forward for our new city.

Copied and pasted from P.U.L.S.E.

Why does a group that is focused on being involved in the development of the City of St. George need to hide most of their discussions in a private FB Group?

There is a small, organized group who have been involved in spreading false information on various message boards.

They are just trying to control the narrative regarding St George.

Meanwhile our parish is being over run with criminals and gangs. BRPD’s budget is being cut, the DA is being cut and wants his own tax, and the mismanagement of the parish gets worse.

Eight years is long enough.

There is no need for the insults by SG Supporters on this forum. The fact remains if people vote NO on this sales tax, it goes away come April of 2025, because the only taxing authority for City of SG is SG Council putting the tax to a vote by the citizens of SG.

I also support the City of SG, but I also want a lower sales tax too. The sales tax we pay in this state is insane. The state about to raise it portion of sales tax yet again to make up for the now obsolete income tax that Governor Landry is pushing for.

If City of SG wants to remain competitive with surrounding area, The appointed leaders need to lower our sales tax by at least 1%. We don't need a 2% sales tax to pay for the freeloaders and crime in North EBR Parish. 1% is plenty enough for City of SG.

St. George supporters have totally misled the public by calling this a "transfer tax" vote. Instead of being very clear to the voters of St. George that we have options to lower our tax rate too.

If voters do not approve this 2% sales tax, City of St. George sales tax will decrease by 2% next April and then the leaders can consider lowering our tax rate to 1% or lower. I may vote for a 1% local city tax, but tired of paying a 2% tax. This is not necessary in a Republican and Conservative City. Stop voting for taxes.

Well, that’s just a fricking lie. They said they wouldn’t have to raise taxes.

Now I know you’re just trying to lie to stir up shite. Of course they weren’t elected yet. Hell, Broome is still refusing to give them the money she was supposed to be holding for them for the past 4 years. Bitch spent it all on city services.

There is never an election immediately until everything is settled and in place, lying sack of shite.

The city-parish’s authority to collect the tax revenue ceased on April 26, 2024 when the Louisiana Supreme Court determined it was reasonable for St. George to incorporate. At that time, the St. George Transition District—the city’s current taxing authority—was created.

This is completely false.

Besides showing you how much of an idiot you are, I’ll just pick apart the first sentence.

The mayors offices of both Baton Rouge & St. George haven’t even agreed on an incorporation date yet. So this make believe date of April 26 you just pulled out of your arse.

Read the text:

quote:

City of St. George Proposition Shall the City of St. George City be authorized pursuant to La. Const. Art. VI, Section 29(B) to levy and collect a perpetual tax of 2% upon the sale at retail, the use, the lease or rental, the distribution, the consumption, and the storage for use or consumption of tangible personal property, and on sales of services, as presently defined in and subject to the tax exemptions in Chapter 2 of Subtitle II of Title 47 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes beginning on April 1, 2025 in the City of St. George ("Tax") to replace the 2% sales and use tax previously levied by the Consolidated Government for the City of Baton Rouge and Parish of East Baton Rouge with the proceeds of the Tax to be used for general municipal purposes within the City of St. George including but not limited to, acquiring, constructing, improving and maintaining public works with an estimated annual collection of $48,000,000 and shall the proceeds of the Tax be subject to funding into bonds as authorized by law?

Do you not know what “to replace” means.

This is such an obvious attempt to try and fool people.

It's 100% yes. You don't vote for St. George and then decide to keep the money in Broom's hands.

For pretending to be so knowledgeable on the vote, you should know EBR sales tax isn't 11%. I think you're claiming that so if the vote comes back as no you can say "look, sales tax is now 9%"
