Allow me to take a wild guess: Hunter Biden sits on the company’s board.

The committee picked Edwards for the job of rounding up all the city's recyclables every two weeks, even though her application with the State of Louisiana listed a 2013 Lexus SUV as a vehicle to transport recyclables. We found that Lexus parked at Edwards' home in the MLK area.

She has equipment, it says so in the article.

Ah, there it is.

So this is how we do business with tax payer money now..

The phone number listed for C. Edwards Concepts was not working. But we found Edwards working in her office on Line Avenue. She declined to talk on camera about her plans, saying she wanted to wait until after the council vote. That'll happen at the next meeting on July 13.

She did say that she is in the process of acquiring waste hauling vehicles.

"We're going to have to be prepared to be patient for her to get up," Flurry cautioned. "It make take her 90 days to get up full with her equipment. She's got to get her people trained, and get CDL drivers. They're very hard to get right now."

The Perkins administration declined to interview for this story. Its spokeswoman also said they'll wait until after the council vote.

Flurry says Edwards plans to haul Shreveport's recyclables to Kilgore, Texas because that's the nearest recycler that'll take it. He says there's little market value for recyclables. But he says the city is striving to keep from filling up its landfill space.

Curbside recycling would again be paid for with a $2.50 monthly charge on water bills.

They do have a surprising amount of cargo room...

I wonder if the other applicants actually had the equipment/drivers already, but of course there's no way to know that since I have no idea who the other applicants were. Although I do know what skin color they have, since that's apparently important.

Just throw that shite in the landfill. It would be cheaper, and probably less harmful to the "environment" to do so. In the end, recycling is more a money making scheme than anything else.

Know of another southern city within the last 10 years where a relative of a city employee was reportedly awarded an annual grass cutting contract for more than $5 million dollars.

Always ends with taxpayers getting fricked and the white man having to come in and fix it. Every single time.

Flurry is ny councilman. He's an old white Republican with early intentions of running for Mayor of Shreveport in the next cycle.

I'm damned disappointed to see him speak this dribble about about "well we didn't have any other options so maybe it works maybe it doesn't". no. It wasn't the only option. The other option was to continue without curbside recycling as we are now. Rather than to hand 2 million a year to a company without any waste transportation assets, without any CDL employees ans without any waste collection experience.

In addition to all that, their plan is to transport the collections to Kilgore, TX which was the only place that would accept it. So how many trucks is she going to need run biweekly collection in a city of 190,000 while also accounting for trucks filling up ans transporting the hour to Kilgore and back. The City of Shreveport has 35 trucks running weekly garbage collection and those are routinely a day or more behind schedule.

The company has no trained employees, no CDL licenses, no working phone, no equipment or vehicles for this type of work and no experience or anything, and we just granted them nearly 2 million a year. I looked up the address of the business and it’s just a crappy house in the ghetto. This stinks of corruption.

They basically granted a 1.9 million dollar a year city recycling contract to a applicant because 1) the applicant is black and 2) the applicant is female, period.
Absolutely no other qualifications of ANY kind that would indicate the ability to accomplish the litter handling.

If there were who did I would love for them to come forward and show the racist city for what it is

I’m a sales rep for Caterpillar and after having some landfills as clients, 80-85 percent of things placed in the recycling bin end up in the landfill anyway. It’s honestly more effort to sort through recycling than the process is worth
