The thread title is the USA Today headline for this story.

Only the kid didn't die during a "traffic stop." The kid was driving recklessly and fled when the cops tried to pull him over. He lost control of the bike and ran into a stop sign. That didn't stop the mayor from blaming the cop.

The deceased is 13 year old Stanley Davis Jr

quote:

The mayor of Boynton, Florida addressed the circumstances surrounding the death of a 13-year-old Florida boy, who died on Sunday after crashing his dirt bike as police tried to pull him over.

On the day of the incident police said the teen, Stanley Davis Jr., was "driving recklessly" on Boynton Beach Boulevard, according to a statement released Sunday.

Police were seen following Davis as he left a gas station on video obtained by WPTV. The teen later collided with a street sign after hitting a curb and was thrown from the bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

I don't know what that anchor's definition of "close behind" is but that kid was leaving the cops in the dust. The cop car didn't really seem to be in a terrible hurry.

This culture believes driving dirt bikes illegally on city streets is awesome.

It’s not. It’s dangerous.

Mayor never mentioned the kid breaking the law.

No room for personal responsibility on the woke train.

Sad a young kid died doing something incredibly stupid and preventable. Even more sad the politicizing of it by this mayor to stir more anger and bitterness.

This

I was shocked at the mayor's comments. he somehow managed to tie this event to decades of mistreatment by the police toward the black community

This is going to come in hand in the upcoming civil suit. How many millions do you think this stupid kid's folks are going to get from the city because of this guy's statement?

Black people should not get punished for anything short of murder.

White kids should go to jail for inappropriate speech.

I saw no police pursuit in that video. I just saw a cop attempt make a simple traffic stop of a person on a vehicle that is not street legal. The police car was at least 100 years behind that motorcycle. It was the kid who took off at warp speed to get away from the policeman.

Besides, aren't the parents responsible for buying that underaged kid a motorcycle then allowing him to ride it illegal on public streets? That's the argument we'd hear if it was some 13 year old white kid with a gun.

No, his parent(s) and the woke brigade are, for ingraining a fear of police and teaching him that running from them was a good idea.

Some in the State of Washington want lesser penalties for drive by shootings because this offense disproportionately affects a certain demographic.

I’m sure the city’s attorney and insurance carrier are very proud of the mayor for this.

I don't find it that incredibly sad. Tired of being expected to pretend it is.

They either bought it for him or it's stolen. Take your pick. How else is a 13 year old getting a dirt bike?
