CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago teachers vote to defy district's orders to return to in-person instruction before vaccinations.

As Ronald Reagan said during his famous Patco speech

“They are in violation of the law, and if they do not return to work within 48 hours, they have forfeited their jobs and will be terminated”

Replacing Air traffic controller‘s was easy because the job paid six figures and retirement was great. It is going to be a lot harder to find people willing to babysit Chicago teenagers in a high school for 45,000$

The destruction of PATCO was a huge blunder and was regretted by RR throughout his remaining life. However, if anything can come out from that this many years later use it.

Nobody will challenge social juicy's anymore they just do what they want.

Hell, they probably don't even teach when they do show up...

These teachers believe the covid response wasn't a lie used for political purposes. The mayor and the governor have started reopening everything now that Biden is in charge.

The teacher’s unions are just outright evil. While I think a lot of our government are a bunch of idiot frick ups who have no idea what they’re doing, the teacher’s unions do. They know they are fricking over their students lives, but it’s just easier and more convenient to just stay at home all day and not doing shite. They need to be destroyed. Unfortunately Kamala is probably going to be the best friend they’ve ever had.

Oorrrr...

We can actually actively change the overall disparaging view of teacher in general across the country. Teachers get shite on constantly from administration to students to parents. Yea yea “they knew what they were getting into.” But they don’t and they get stuck in an eat shite and lime it career.

Education in Chicago (and most other places) is one of those organizations that needs to disbanded and rebuilt from scratch.

Worked with a guy who was in PATCO working at MSY when they decided to strike. He said he first went along with it then he said the meetings started getting more ridiculous and they even brought someone in to show Union members how to fight with a pickaxe, he said that was it for him and crossed the next day and he received multiple threats from his co workers. Another guy I worked with had 2 kids and 1 on the way and said he was in no position to give up his job and he would not have made half the money he was making at the time if he quit or was fired. Both said everyone was stunned when Reagan actually did it though, no one thought he would do it. I served with a CSM that was sent to work at Indianapolis Center at the time until they hired enough staff again. You are right that it would be harder to replace teachers especially in a city like Chicago, but you keep letting them pull shite like this than they will keep doing it so it is definitely a though spot to be in.

If they're not back by Wednesday, begin gradually replacing them. This shouldn't be complicated.

Friend of mine was an air traffic controller that lost his job during strike.

ETA - ironically, Reagan was President of the Screen Actors Guild during his Democratic years.

People will do it.

Besides, it is $58,000 -$61,000 right now for new teachers. In short...fire their asses pronto.
It won’t happen under Biden though.

Hard to keep track on which laws have to be followed and when I’m supposed to claim my guns lost/stolen or federal space as owned by the people
