I do this every year. I'm still waiting for my $2500 savings.

When sorting my offerings by expected annual costs, I go from the bronze plan (cheapest)

To the gold plan (most expensive)

I can't afford to quit my job or retire until I have Medicare...

It's absolute bullshite that the large insurance companies have such a strong lobby on Congress. Government provided health care for everyone allows ALL people to get proper health care without having to go bankrupt.

Can we do upvotes and downvotes on the same post?

Why in the hell would you want our politicians in charge of your healthcare?

Yep, I was looking at mine the other day. It is so damn depressing to see a new mortgage payment added to my bills now.

Blessed to be with a large company that has great coverage. I cover my two kids and myself, with an annual individual deductible of $750/$1500, and a stop loss of $2000/$4000 at a cost of only $372 a month and with $30 office visits, no charge physicals and $10 or less prescriptions and I get 2X wages in life insurance at no charge.

Assuming that the company pays another $400 or so, that's still far less that what you're seeing. I don't understand how an insurance company can charge those rates you're showing when I can get the kind of rate I'm getting. It's robbery.

Universal coverage would result in massive tax increases, or drastically reduced levels of coverage, with strict rationing of medical care.

The government sucks at everything and yet you want it to be responsible for your healthcare.

Medical bankruptcy is a vastly overrated issue in America based off of one flawed study coauthored by Elizabeth warren decades ago

Health insurance profit margins are not anything substantial.

That’s probably on the low end of what they’re paying.

Remember when W wanted to allow any group/organization to negotiate with the insurance companies to get lower combined rates but the Dems fought it? I do.

They charge those rates because that is what the underwriters determined based on an individual plan that complies with ACA.

ACA also capped insurance companies profit margins on health policies.

Insurance companies are not getting rich off of this.

Their gains have been from diversification into other product lines and international markets.

You dummy...health insurance is this expensive BECAUSE of the government.

If the health insurance industry were largely deregulated, avg premiums would be more than cut in half.

For example...did you know that a MA (medicare advantage) provider has to invest 80% of a patient’s premiums back into the patient’s health? That’s before the company’s overhead is taken into account. So the patient ends up with a bunch of Dr visits, rehab, and tests which may not be necessary.

My premiums have gone up five fold since the ACA has been signed into law. That is what happens when the Government gets involved. Now that is some "bull shite".

This is an interesting post, that I initially thought was sarcasm. Sadly I now think you're being serious. In the first sentence you complain that government is corrupt and in the second sentence, your solution is to give the government more control.

This is the mindset that fricks us.

I bet you company is covering more like 80% or close to 1,600.00/ month.

My company offers a $820.00 month PPO with higher deductibles and they cover 50% so they are paying another 820.00 and the plan isn't as good as yours.

Before the ACA I use to pay around 400.00 a month for a better policy So including the higher deductables/ plan cost, last year I spent around $20,000 (out of my pocket) on healthcare, this included a tonsile removal and a ER visit for a child that ended up being nothing

Have you considered one of the religious shared coverage companies. They(you) are exempted from ACA. MediShare is one, I use one called Liberty Healthshare. LINK /
I pay $249/mo for their Cadillac plan. I had been paying $199 for the last 2 years & it increased $50 last month.
I think their family package is around $500 or a bit more.
You can research it & for reviews.

13K deductible? Holy $@&%$ batman! And to think I have been complaining about my 3K deductible that kicked in as a result of this ACA nonsense. Guess I will count myself as luckier than some and know that I qill forever be tied to a company plan and can never retire.
