The “I am a moderate/Independent” claims amuse me. The majority who have made this claim side 99% with the left on every issue.
I don’t take many of you seriously because you folks can’t even be honest about your politics/ideology. As if saying your moderate but pushing left leaning policy gives it more credibility.

Talk to the Left about that. To them, I'm an Alt-Right Nazi. This may be largely true on this board, but certainly not in general society. The moderates are the ones despised by the radicals on both sides, which this board is clearly up to their eyeballs on the Right side.

One of the biggest problems in political discourse and understanding each other these days is that in practice, for most, the traditional exclusive labels dont really apply any more. There are more complex issues, events, and circumstances that require a new level of critical thinking. Anyone who can simply say they are unwaivering one-word a, b, c or d options may not doing enough of the aforementioned.

I actually do agree with the left on some things. The list is short and- and it’s mainly to do with issues of civil liberties. I have no desire to adopt massive social welfare programs because they don’t work.
I actually also agree with Affirmative Action, but only as it relates to black people. I think It’s horsehit to apply it to any other minority, and in any other context but education.
I also agree with maternity leave policies being part of the law on major employers, and Title Vii discrimination laws as they relate to sex, African Americans, and religion- but I think they way they have been interpreted by the Courts is Asinine, and have led to abuse and resentment in the workforce.
Wanna know any others or are you continuing to jump to the conclusion that because I have opinions on issues they tow some kind of party line? Cuz it sounds to me like you didn’t use your fricking brain and demonized the “other side.”

I got banned on DU after 1 hour because I said I support trans rights but we need to stop forcing it on kids regarding the drag queen library readings that are popping up everywhere. I side with Republicans more times than not now just because of how fricking crazy the dems are now. Yet I'm still a moderate.

The term “ moderation “ no longer apples to The Democratic Party in any way. It is a party in the grips of complete ideological possession. Higher education is even worse. And the dominant media culture is Cultural Marxism on steroids.
Look at Twitter . If a Democrat strays even slightly from the Progressive dogma, he will be shamed and shunned. Party discipline is enforced through intimidation and coercion. The only place where Free speech and rational skepticism is allowed, is on The Right. And all who Identity as Conservative/ Libertarian/Prog Skeptical publicly in any high profile way will face the angry ProgMob, get doxxed, face Reputation Destruction etc.
There is no Longer meaningful moderation on The Left

We have lots of militatry history from the French and Indian War right up to the current conflict in the Middle East.
Yet on the internet, a tough guy like yourself can label something without the slightest clue if it is even remotly accurate because it feeds your need for "Us" vs "Them" and why negative ads are so successful in electing bad candidates. While I may not be the oldest person on this site, I am pretty sure I am in the top percentile and I have lived as an American long enough that the Republicans of my youth would never stand while the Patriot Act was passed. The Democrats of my youth would not stand to see a Republic replaced with a corporate monarchy.
I will go yo one better in that at one time the "Democrats" and the "Republicans" were the same party under some folks named Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe to fight the Federalists. Do they even teach history In school anymore or has it been replaced by Twitter and Facebook to such a degree that we no longer have an individual mind and community spirt fostered by our earliest political leaders?

I’m not a moderate. I am fully for no regulation, licensing, and a completely free market. I’m also for the government’s only purpose to protect life liberty and property.

As far as a "liberal" position goes, Im gonna say supporting criminal justice reform would be one. Certainly to me it is.
