Cedric Glover running for Congress to boost Landrieu vote

Under the political tree of John Fleming, Louisiana’s 4th District U. S. Congressman, was what he considers a bell-ringer of a gift: Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover’s confirmation of a plan to challenge the Congressman in this fall’s election.
In fact, this is actually more about U. S. Senator Mary Landrieu’s re-election campaign, about which I wrote last week. For many months there has been a steady thrum of buzz about the Senator deploying certain of her strongest in-state political assets — Glover and Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo — to increase black voter turnout in the primary election on November 4. Glover, term-limited as mayor, is the poster child of the op: he, according to the details of the reputed Landrieu plan, will qualify to run against Fleming, then start a steady drum-banging of race-related yuck to tune-up an unsuspecting African-American community. The Senator will rise above the fray and disavow any knowledge of, much less involvement in, the stinkiness. What Glover is set to bag from the deal is now the subject of focused attention.

This is pretty much why our Political system is in the shitter.
It no longer has anything to do with representing the citizens of Louisiana in D.C.
The only time she worries about us is when re-election time comes around.
And even then, it's only about how to get re-elected.
If only we had term limits on these idiots.

Even more reason the responsible citizens of this state need to mobilize against this woman. If you can give money to Cassidy, if you can't afford to do that volunteer, if you don't have the time to volunteer make sure you let your friends, neighbors, co-workers aware how important this election is and that we need to mobilize as many responsible folks as possible to vote her out. Don't let people tell you that they're apathetic. We have too damn many people who are takers in the grand scheme of things that are spoiling these elections for the people paying the bills.

A rigging by any other name is still a rigging. This is the part I absolutely hate about politics.

A monthly publication out of Lafayette with a daily updated website referenced the above post on their front page this morning, and basically accuse Stonecipher of being discriminatory and calling blacks "dumb".
It's publication run by a bunch of left wing idiots, so par for the course, I suppose.

I have literally only heard that on this board and have yet to hear a justification for that assertion.

Yep.
On the flip side(even though it was minor), there was a strong rumor that some powerful repubs bankrolled the main challenger to mayor mitch landrieu for re-election. The reasoning was that they thought if mitch lost, it will help to make mary look bad.

I'm sure that was a bonus, but they probably also were hoping that a republican might have a shot at actually winning just for winning's sake.
EDIT: forgot his challenger was a black democrat

I believe that. There were idiots in GOP/conservative circles in Louisiana who backed the convicted criminal Nagin for re-election over Mitch Landrieu.

I say this as someone who was pulling for Mitch, Nagin was not a convicted criminal yet. Early on, he took some reformist steps. So I can forgive people that supported him.

He hadn't been convicted yet, but those on the inside knew there was stuff swirling around him.

And, and, and, he's not dynamic enough!!
Unlike Mary, who just screams DYNAMISM at every turn.

Cedric knows that he cannot win. He's pretty close friends with Mary. I sat next to her at Ced's inauguration blow out when he won first term as gov.
This is the way it will play out. Black voter turnout will explode in Shreveport. Not sure if that's enough to save Mary's bacon.
I don't think black turnout will explode in South La. since they don't know who he is. He's very charismatic, but he can't go down to New Orleans and campaign for her while he's running for Congress. Would look really bad.
If the black Shreveport vote tips Mary over the top in a close race then Cedric's reward will be a cushy job that Mary arranges for him.
