I typed up several responses to this, and finally gave up. Anyone by now who is too stupid not to wear a mask, given the absolute most minor of inconveniences it takes to put one on vs. the potential benefit it provides to you, me, my neighbor and grandmother, cannot be convinced otherwise. I wonder if most of us were always this dumb and the internet just magnifies it, or if we're willfully becoming more stupid by the day.
That is not the point of this thread.

Yeah, it seems about half the people wearing masks are using them as chin warmers.
Hell, the other day I saw a woman start to walk into a liquor store when she realized she didnt have a mask.
I swear she turned to a group if people sitting at a table outside a bar and asked, "can I borrow someone's mask?

Anyone still questioning that the CDC is partisan hacks against Trump?

Have an upvote. Just don't be surprised when the villagers break down your door with a wood hand battering ram. :)

Woosh...

Wow!
If this were actually true, hospital staffs would wear masks throughout flu season instead of getting vaccinated. I can't even go into patient areas without my flu vaccine tag, but never wore a mask until April of this year.
Who knew that nearly two decades of influenza vaccine and hospital transmission research were all wrong?

It's not that people are dumb, as we're more educated as a population than we've been at times when we followed public health authorities more easily. There's more distrust of authorities and more counter-authorities for people to attach to. The internet is definitely a factor.

1) define close contact
2) count the number of people you are in close contact with every day in public places
3) re-evaluate your nonsense post

Perhaps, but multiple vaccines are in phase III and none will get an indication unless it meets FDA standards of safety and efficacy. These will be no different than vaccines for influenza.
So at best, it was a very poorly articulated comment.

He actually was talking about masks vs. a proven vaccine and assuming that even proven vaccines aren't going to elicit a sufficient immune response for acquired immunity in everyone vaccinated, whereas masks don't have that differential effect.

Where was this MF and his facemask guarantee in March?
Posted on 9/16/20 at 1:50 pm to TigerDoc
Masks have long been considered ineffective for reducing community transmission of influenza and were not a recommendation of the CDC or NIAID as recently as 2017.
True, C19 is not influenza, but there are no large community studies for C19.

I've been saying all along... mask mandates are here to stay. They aren't going anywhere.

Sure I can be convinced. The mask nazis need to do a better job of convincing. I see absolutely no reason for me to wear a mask. I'd do the world more good by not driving anywhere.

This is dumb, masks don’t protect the person wearing the mask.

If all the "party of science lol" people have a problem with him, explain why your party did this.

blah blah blah
There has been disagreement among "experts" about their effectiveness and the dissenting views have been silenced like they always are.
