It reminds me of the old John Kerry line, "I was for it before I was against it." Cassidy had already shown his true feelings regarding Trump (as did Cornyn) when he thought Trump was toast in the political sense. But Trump reemerged and Cassidy had to pretend to be a Trump ally once again.
Some here still don't seem to get it, but 1) We have a corrupt political system, and 2) Bill Cassidy was part of it.
