No, everybody does not talk about Israel 24/7. Right now that's probably closer to the truth than normal because we're in a war and our Secretary of State said it's because we had no choice due to Israel's actions. Call me crazy but I think Israel is worth discussing in this context.

Would you prefer people be talking about the Kardashians?

There's more than one, but "large" is relative. Below are the five biggest spenders in lobbying Congress.

U.S. Chamber of Commerce ~$70–80M
National Association of Realtors ~$60–85M
PhRMA ~$25–30M
Amazon ~$20–25M
American Hospital Association ~$20M

By contrast, the biggest pro-Israel lobbying group, the AIPAC, spends about $3 million a year.

But so does the pro-Saudi and pro-UAE lobbying group. The pro-Qatar lobbying group spends about $1.5 million (probably half of that budget now goes to Huckster Carlson).

And I've never heard anybody claim that realtors run America or tell the POTUS what to do.

Some people do have religious reasons for supporting (and not supporting) Israel, and some people are simply racist, but completely apart from all of that, we'd be kind of stupid not to support them just based on their geopolitical position in a region that contains 70% of the world's oil and passes through 30% of the container shipping in the world.

People have been obsessed with talking about Israel in the mainstream for years now. At least since Oct. 7th and their war with Palestine started.

I'll agree with that.

I can understand a lot of the different sides we're seeing right now, I do struggle to see how a country the size of New Jersey, with a population less than New York City, and a GDP not that much higher than Alabama, is considered the ultimate, all powerful boogie man by so many though.

They're obsessed with talking about Ukraine and Russia too. It's news.

Yes, we have a very small minority of skinheads or whatever who always hate the Jews, but I think it's pretty normal and expected that they're a hot topic of discussion right now in the mainstream.

The US has no need for their oil. This is like a 20 year old out of date argument.

Why are we still getting it from the middle east then?

Tell me, how much oil do we import from the region.

I will wait

Hint: it’s a small number

I will just tell you. It’ about 8% in total imports.

This is before we get Venezuela fully up and going which I suspect will replace iraqs portion leaving Saudis as the only ones at 3-4%. Almost all of the oil from the gulf goes to east to Asia

Your mission

It genuinely blows my mind that people can see all of this and just kind of shrug it off

Again, peak “I picked my camp now I will see all things and force them into it” type behavior I mentioned in earlier.

While yes this is a joint mission, Israel still has their OWN missions to accomplish as do we.

In Ms Lindsey’s case, the Mossad probably has “intel” on his personal life.

Sometimes when daddy(Trump) hangs out with his friends (Bibi) they like to go and kick someone's arse that was threatening to hurt mommy (USA/Westerners)

To be fair though, most people on this board are not your average ordinary Americans. I would most here below that level.

Here are the cliffs notes:

Israel is a democracy.

They moved back in to their ancient homeland after WWII. With the blessing of the United Nations who granted them the land.

In an area where sparse nomadic arabs had been starving for hundreds of years, they turned the area into a green belt of productive farming.

After the Holocaust perpetrated by the Nazis in WWII, they were determined to never be victims again.

After establishing themselves and making the arabs look bad by being so successful, the arabs decided to invade and try to destroy Israel on numerous occasions.

In all such invasions, Israel defeated the arabs and rightfully conquered the lands of their would-be aggressors thus growing the size of Israel.

That's true, when that was the hot topic of conversation there were idiots claiming that both Putin and Zelenskyy were running the US and telling Biden/Trump what to do as well.

Good point.

Westerners have had problems with Jews for as long as Jews tried to live in Western societies.

You would need to study the history of those problems to determine whether you believe “antisemitism” was justified or whether Germans just decided one day in the late 1800s to start hating Jews.

The privileged treatment Jews have received since WW2 is coming to end as the Boomers go away. Israel knows this and is now going overt with their world domination plans, while they still have time.
