It's more accurate if you leave "education system" out of your sentence

Yeah, I want reading to specifically be part of the curriculum. The real question is why do you and the vile teacher's unions fight tooth and nail to keep poor kids poor and illiterate? Are you that desperate to feel superior to someone?

This is akin to people screaming about minimum wage being low. Just because the government isn't forcing something doesn't mean it's illegal to do it.

Did you try to find out what reading curriculum is currently being used in school districts across the state? I did. Turns out the science of reading is already implemented in many of them.

So you're outraged that the government didn't make a new law requiring something that's already happening.

They absolutely can, and do, mandate what can and cannot be taught in the public schools.

Mandating that cursive be taught in third grade is not equivalent to mandating that every 5th grade math class use Eureka Math curriculum.

The state legislators tell teachers what books and lessons to teach in your state? And you’re calling me a a liar…

"In North Carolina, the State Board of Education sets policy and procedures for public schools, including course content and testing requirements. The General Assembly, through legislation, also plays a role in shaping education policies and curriculum."

To say the legislature doesn't have a part of crafting school curriculum, and I'll be generous here, is simply disingenuous.

Wait, what.
Are you saying California doesn't currently mandate the specific curriculum that must be taught in schools across the state, one which is failing its students?

The fact California is still resisting phonics a solid 25 to 30 years after their stupid whole language approach had been thoroughly debunked is just embarrassing

And you don't need to train teachers how to teach phonics. They just need to know the alphabet and the sounds each letter makes.

I said that state legislatures don't mandate the specific curriculum that must be taught in each school. School districts in California aren't all using the exact same curriculum.

Before you submit every post, do you consider if it aligns with the certain portrayal of yourself that you are curating on this board?

I don't. I just respond.

One dude tried to convince me I'm black yesterday so I really dgaf what you weirdos think I am or am not.

Words mean things. You said “not even close,” which is hilariously stupid. You know it’s hilariously stupid. You just hope other people don’t know how hilariously stupid it is.

This is like when earlier in the thread you said that every study that’s ever been done shows vouchers don’t work. Then when I listed a bunch that didn’t agree with your conclusion, you claimed that they were 9 years old (they weren’t).

You’re bad at arguing for bad arguments.

You're equating mandating "cursive must be taught to third graders" with "third graders must be taught ELA using CKLA curriculum only." Those things are not even close to the same thing. You are here arguing that they are the same, or very similar, but they are not.

Do you ever get tired of lying?

I didn't say that. I said there are many, many studies across multiple states that demonstrate vouchers only cost more money and do not improve education. I stand by that statement.
