Though, the way Portland is going, you may want to continue that red line north.

Hopefully they ban their residents from coming to or moving to Texas altogether. We'll just keep taking their businesses.

They conveniently omitted any specifics about the impact the ban will have. This ban primarily targets travel to things like conferences and workshops.

Either it will have very little impact, or they aren't going to provide a dollar amount because it is so outrageous they don't want to risk any backlash from California taxpayers.

Also the ban appears to only apply to state-funded travel. The Cali AG couldn't attend a conference in Gulf Shores, but all the local district attorneys and all their employees could go.

I think it's very likely is mostly just a show to make a statement, but I hope it screws them for being hypocritical arsehats.

One of the CFP semi final games next year is in Texas at the Cotton Bowl. I hope Stanford or UCLA has a great season and is seeded as such that they are sent to the Cotton Bowl.

Can we still keep stealing their businesses?

That travel is likely to continue unimpeded.

Those CA ****s are such little shits. Can't travel to nine states but they'll fully fund you to a place that will kill you for being gay.

The California law still allows some employees to travel to states on the banned list, for special exempted purposes like collecting tax revenue

To paraphrase an old joke...'They have admitted what they are, they are just negotiating price....which appears to be very low.'

Is that even legal? Couldn't that be a form of discrimination of some kind?

Well these same Californians celebrated the strike down of Trump's attempt to withhold federal funding from sanctuary cities, but don't mind that.

As dumb as this is, it's their prerogative. I just wish they would go ahead and secede and live their lives on their own.

I actually think making a broad policy like this violates the Constitutional Interstate Commerce Clause: "Congress shall have power to . . . To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes." Restricting trade between the states is not something the states are allowed to do. If the feds can control a farmer growing wheat for his own cattle, they should have control over this.

I can understand why the state of Alabama would rather just let them.

The question of succession has already been answered.

I was just going to say this. I live in Plano Texas and we just got the Toyota North American headquarters from California. I hope these California assholes realize that their politics is why they are here and don't try to make the same mess here.

While typically I am opposed to new Federal Laws, I think maybe there is a need for one here. If we are a UNITED states, ONE country. Should we allow one member to ban travel to another part of the country?

Yes. If the California State Government wants to ban its employees from traveling to these states, they most certainly can.

It's a complete bullshite move and nothing more than virtue signaling for all the proggies, but legal.
