You tell them. You voted for it. Multiple times.

That's due to things other than the trade deficit, likely bad choices made during formative years by those people.

Freedom/capitalism, not globalism. You're exposing your leftism by changing words for emotional reactions.

As we have always said on here to Leftist economics that want to stop progress, in your ideal world we'd have saved the candlemakers and horse-drawn carriage fabricators.

Trump was reelected because people could clearly see the difference in his leadership and policies vs Bush, Romney, Obama, and Biden.

Trump was elected because white people started feeling economic stressors and wanted leftist politics to make up for their bad decisions.

There are studies that show prices drop. Plus we have a whole history to look at.

It can lead to job loss, a weakened currency, increase in debt and over reliance of China during a pandemic.

It's 100% globalism you clown.

That trillion dollars out of our coffers into those overseas is what is building their economies. Chinese lived in mud huts and ate dirt before we financed their growth, by buying their exports, to the point many now consider them a formidable enemy of the US.

It means the country is rich... for now. Its a stain on national security (very hard to quickly ramp up non-existent factories), and in an era where the number of people trained for office work exceeds the number of office jobs, it leaves a good chunk of the population behind

Poors benefit from cheaper walmart goods, but they would be better off paying a bit more for their products and having a factory job than working the gig economy. Trade imbalance primarily benefits the top quarter

"Globalism" doesn't even have a definition

quote:

In discussing international trade, we must always remember that it’s not a “zero-sum” game, nor is it a “winner vs. loser” dynamic. In trade, all sides wish to benefit from the agreement, or it wouldn’t make sense to continue to trade, since they can just continue to do their own internal trading.

Additionally, we need to remember that all economies rise as buying increases, since jobs are created for workers to produce those additional goods and services. There is no “fixed” number of jobs. Instead, the idea of “a rising tide lifts all boats” applies as countries’ economic prosperity means an increase of jobs on all sides.

Of course, politics often gets in the way of it all. As Sowell explains:

“The basic facts about international trade are not difficult to understand. What is difficult to untangle are all the misconceptions and jargon which so often clutter up the discussion.”

More MMT nonsense .

Trade deficits don't matter until the world doesn't want your bonds/securities...... what the world won't buy simply add it to the Fed balance sheet (around $7 trillion) and debase the currency.

Yes, if a $1 trillion dollar trade deficit is a sign of a robust US economy we should offshore all US industrial production and any other sector of the US economy that will help build a bigger trade deficit.

It does unless you are sporting a 37 trillion debt. You are smarter than this.

My comment had nothing to do with trade deficit and everything to do with your USA hating rhetoric that tariffs equals Marxism and the USA founders were Marxists.

Your form of trade is globalization. It's a redistribution of wealth. Those towns and cities were once flourishing. That money left and went to China to make them wealthy.

If it's anything like the first term, corporations announce "plans" hoping for an exemption. Had two solar clients that tried this. Neither built isht.
