Read it again. Turned 18 before the trip is stated in the freaking quote. They meant former as in used to be

No one is interested in any of this story...the issue being addressed here is the non term "former minor."
Can we address the illegitimacy of that phrase or why it would be used, in any possible form or in any context?
A former minor is an adult. We already have a perfectly good word for it. The possibility for the use of that term is to attempt to confuse someone who glances at the article.
This, as Wednesday put it, is straight Newspeak. This is akin to calling something Double+ Good.

I think its true she was 18, but i dont think an anonymous source proves anything.
That's because other posters have been following this story and aren't holding their evaluation of the entire Gaetz story to this one article.
