No clue. If I had to guess, maybe have to declare your odometer reading at the end of the year when you’re doing taxes. Then if you under-reported, they would get you at the time you go to sell or trade-in the vehicle. Similar to depreciation recapture at time of sale on other types of assets people take deductions on

This is how they tract you. They could just as easily meter the electricity going into an electric vehicle and add it to your electric bill as a surcharge. That way it would be similar to the road use tax in fuels. It that wouldn’t track and control you, which is the goal of electric cars and global warming crap. Pure crap.

While on the subject of cars, I think I saw on Twitter yesterday that there is also a provision in the bill to require automakers to include breathalyzer ignition interlock systems or some other means to prevent drunks from starting a vehicle, much less driving it.

Nanny state on full display.

why would a civil engineer know hot to reconfigure CPUs?

I think they are trying to figure out a way to tax electric car use like they do with gasoline cars...since EV's won't be contributing to a gas or diesel tax.

I would think at the time of your vehicle inspection, you will pay a tax for mileage.

I'm sure certain "types" will get free miles with some type of ObamaCare/ObamaMiles plan.

was thinking the same thing. Hell what would an EE know about it? software is totally different that hardware.

Even Computer Engineers arent taught how to hack

wtf these people think they are teaching us in school. Apparently they think we are gods or something

and hacking a odometer is very much a crime. Dont know too many engineers in general who are into getting the PE pulled or getting fired from their job. frick all that.

but also frick this tax. more bullshite.

We should add a rider that taxes people by the word; every politard would be broke in a week.

These people are crazy... anyone who supports a fee to drive anywhere needs to be buried. That alone will cause economic slow down. The transportation of goods and tourism will be directly impacted. Part of their plan to keep people isolated and working remotely because of the costs of driving to work will rise.

What do you think the current gas tax is? Essentially we already pay based on miles driven.

If they implement that, then as consumers of the highways, we should only pay our portion of taxes for the mileage we use the roads.

Computer engineering maybe

i know what he meant... i was just humorously pointing out that CE is no computer engineering. I dont even think you can get a degree in computer engineering, i think it is a EE degree with some computer science classes taken.
