biden floated this idea a mth or so into office but immediately pulled back after getting buried in push back by the GOP. He's now trying to sneak it through this bill. This is a BIG deal, down the road, if it goes through.

I hope all those atlanta suburbs types who voted for biden while they commute into work to be able to send their kids to school, avoid crime are watching but I know they are not.

Its become all about the collective in this country.

You are not allowed to make a choice thats good for you as an individual and if you do you will be punished.

Whether its the vaccine, whether its a mask for you or your kids, whether its urban vs suburban vs rural living, whether its owning and renting property as a landlord, whether its owning a gas or electric vehicle, the state and those who are our betters in Washington, New York, Chicago and LA know better than you/us.

And dont you forget if you fall out of line you will be punished.

I would think at the time of your vehicle inspection, you will pay a tax for mileage.
Feds would have to mandate a uniform annual inspection policy for every state then for that to work.

Right now some states require annual inspections, other states require one every 2 years, some states have no inspection requirements. And that doesn't even factor in the vehicles driving around with expired inspection stickers

I am assuming this is in response to the growing prevalence of electric vehicles? Which makes sense since a lot of funding for roads comes from the taxes placed on gasoline.

Then they should tax vehicle chargers by the kilowatt hour… would be same as gasoline tax. Wouldn’t be hard to install watt meters on home charging stations and at roadside locations

Had to know this was coming. The government cash register just doesn't ring like it should, with all these electric cars on the road these days. The federal government makes more per gallon of fuel that the producers of that fuel. this is their way of making us all pay for the wear and tear on the roads that the electric and hybrid people are shorting them on.

Lol like they care about the roads. It’s all about money and a small percentage will go to roads with a large portion being general funds. It’s the honey pot.

I almost used the term slush fund, but I figured it would be dismissed as hyperbole. That's what it is.

That's basically what it's going to take. I'm seriously thinking about changing my withholding and just quit paying income taxes, but that would make it too easy for them. All they would do is throw me in jail after a couple of years, but I really want to find a way to just say FU to the government.

We already have a road use tax. Also, GVWR is used to put trucks into classes that have to pay different taxes.
