Any data on how much that area contributes annual in taxes to the city?

Hip Hop "culture" is also a MASSIVE reason as to why the city of Atlanta is failing.
embracing that nonsensical, immature, and downright imbecilic shite is absolutely TOXIC.

I remember when Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza were so glamorous. It boggles my mind that metal detectors have had to be installed. The only problems this area ever experienced in the 1990's was when Freaknik came from out of nowhere, but the malls just closed and locked the doors. Now the city let the BLM trash loot and pillage several stores during the riots two summers ago. So glad I got out of Atlanta when I did. It's very depressing to see its decline. And it's never going to recover either.

I was renting a charming little house on Delmont when Freaknik 1st came to town, about 2 city blocks from the nightclubs
Buckhead was a special place & lots of fun; the hottest place in what people called "Hotlanta"
what I miss most? The Buckhead Amusement Center; was the oldest bar in Buckhead - a little pool hall run by one of Atlanta's biggest bookies
I remember blackjack being dealt on the bar & a phone call came in, "PICK UP YOUR CARDS BOYS, NOW!"
and the cops came in - the owner booked bets for most of the police in the area and ALWAYS got a call right before any raid...
7 plays on the jukebox for $1 (all "old school" country") -- sawdust on the floors -- a boneless & skinless chicken dinner for 30 cents (hard boiled egg)
the owner brought me in to bartend for his 50th anniversary...
gone forever

Will they have their own judicial/court system and

Holy shite… ATL is screwed if this goes through.
So what’s the process? I’d assume people vote for it and then legislature approves?

No, it would still be Fulton County courts

if not for the Bosnians, South St.Louis/ south county would of been toast.
The Bosnians are only slowing the onslaught. And when they’re able or willing, they move to the county and further out for schools.

the Buckhead night life used to be the place to be! I had many fun filled evenings down there in my single days. Then one day I was down there and was confused at the car traffic. I thought there was an accident. Then I realized every car had some person of color hanging out the window and all they were doing is "cruising". Then the next few times I went down, it was the same way...massive cruising traffic and the addition a couple clubs being completely taken over. I stopped going to Buckhead then. Soon after, it had been mostly taken over when a couple of shootings occurred in a short time frame where people were killed. Buckhead opted to then shut the entire bar scene down...end of story. Still some bars down there but spread out further north and south on Peachtree. That was around the late 90's I believe.

I was living in Sandy Spring when we became our own city. The area of Sandy Springs was under the control of Fulton County and it was seriously lacking in a police presence, limited fire stations, and overall maintenance of the area.
It took several years to get the support to establish the city of Sandy Springs and it is a great place to live now. We moved out because as someone said, the schools remained under the control of Fulton County and they suck. We moved to Cobb County and both my kids got academic scholarships to Bama.
Like others have said, Buckhead was the place to party, and it was safe. I remember the Buckhead Crawl, Peachtree closing down after the Sid Slide, and who remembers Carols Mcgee"s?
Good luck to Buckhead, I really hope they pull this off!

I’m taking a guess that Bosnians have seen worse than St Louis and will fight back if necessary.

You're a moron, because like most marxist liberals, your only argument is "racism".
If you actually did your homework, you would know that people are being shot/murdered/robbed in Buckhead...in the 2 malls there and recently in a movie theater someone was shot over a seat. One individual was jogging on Peachtree and was shot for no reason. Humans simply don't want to die and they look for ways to prevent that. You know, that whole self preservation thing. Fulton is trash like any democrat run jurisdiction and Buckhead has seen decades of mismanagement and death from not being provided the services it pays for in taxes to Fulton county.
Be smarter please and think before you speak.

lovely how they felt it necessary to label Buckhead as the "whitest part of Atlanta"
If it was they wouldn't have this much crime and need to form their own city.
