Bubba Wallace - the driver

I’m not much of a racing fan. I’ll watch the last few laps of a race just to see the competition, but I really couldn’t tell you what makes one driver better than another.
Looking at BW’s record over the last 5 years, he has:
Wins - 0
Top 10 finishes - 35
Poles - 2
That looks pretty average to me.
I’ve seen comparisons of BW and Jackie Robinson.
It seems as if Jackie would have needed to be a .240 & 5 HRs hitter in order for this to be accurate.
Is BW a better driver than I’m giving him credit for?

To be fair there was a whole negro league to choose from.
Wallace is maybe the only black driver that’s good enough to even make the top level.
I don’t know if the numbers are there to expect a top end driver.

Probably not as good a Wendell Scott, but better than Willy T Ribbs.

He’s a token of NASCAR Drive for Diversity. NASCAR has lost so many fans over the years they’ve changed their model to attract the younger “woke” and alphabet people. Hint - If your product sucks.failure is guaranteed.

In reality all of these guys are great drivers at this level. Yeah, Willy was good, but once he got to nascar, and champ cars, it seemed like he was in over his head a bit. Of course, he wasn't in the best cars in nascar at least.

The crazy thing is he did all of this and made his money with the Rebel Flag flying at every race track....it didnt stop him from making it to the top and didnt stop him from earning his money
