So they had an executive order ready to roll and were just looking for an opportunity to spring it when the President himself was the affected party? Perhaps.

It would fit in with the libel suits his campaign has filed in relation to political opinion pieces.

That doesn't seem that unusual around here.

Normally,I would agree, but that dude was going after everybody, including people who normally would agree with him. It was like it was a life or death thing for him.

How is Twitter silencing him?
If you don’t think Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and Google don’t censor conservative speech, you’re either a compulsive liar or incredibly fricking stupid.

I think you’re both.

Thanks!

So does the "assumption" that social media platforms would act as neutral forums need to be revisited and legislated now?

Seems like a grey area unless Congress concretely enacts a law that makes them either a platform or a publisher.

And likely violate the First Amendment.

And the “fact check” was demonstrably false.

Where’s that fall into this argument?

This is what The Hill thinks it might be:

quote:

The Trump administration reportedly drafted an executive order titled “Protecting Americans from Online Censorship” in 2019 that would let the Federal Communications Commission change how Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act is interpreted.

That law, which is considered foundational to the modern internet by most tech companies, gives platforms legal immunity for content posted by third-party users while also giving them legal cover to make good-faith efforts to moderate their platforms.

Well we’re already being censored, so now the left will get a taste of its own medicine.

It’s pretty damn bitter.

It’s insanely bitter and I don’t like it at all. I don’t want a president making executive orders against private companies

Big Tech will challenge it and it’ll at least start the process of getting it to SCOTUS
