Fact check: there is someone ultimately accountable for our actions as a company, and that’s me. Please leave our employees out of this. We’ll continue to point out incorrect or disputed information about elections globally. And we will admit to and own any mistakes we make.

This does not make us an “arbiter of truth.” Our intention is to connect the dots of conflicting statements and show the information in dispute so people can judge for themselves. More transparency from us is critical so folks can clearly see the why behind our actions.

r our Civic Integrity policy (LINK ), the tweets yesterday may mislead people into thinking they don’t need to register to get a ballot (only registered voters receive ballots). We’re updating the link on
@realDonaldTrump
’s tweet to make this more clear.

Hmmm doesn’t add up, jack. So they aren’t arbiters of truth but will strive to root out incorrect or ‘disputed’ information. Wants to be a publisher without consequences and benefit from platform protections. Should be pretty easy to more clearly define these roles and protections/consequences. Twitter shouldnt have its cake and eat it too.

Calling my shot.
EO will state that all media platforms that censor conservatives unnecessarily will not receive the benefits of their current status any longer. It will be a financial hurt, is my bet.
Status being that current laws applicable to them protect them from being sued as a platform.
An EO can’t undue a statute or court ruling.

I beginning to think this was all a setup by Trump. He baited Jack to act with the Scarborough stuff so Jack would do something stupid so Trump could then use it as justification for his EO against social media companies.

but they do it based on terms of use agreed to by all of us.
This is false. There have been many users banned for things not mentioned in the terms of use under the guise of "browsewrap" even though the practice was ruled illegal in the Zappos case, years after the current terms of use were published. (No updates since 2009)

this wasn’t why people jumped on the Trump Train
YouTube autocensoring anti-Chinese videos and comments and twitter actively manipulating content for their own biased reasons is a problem and shows that they are content publishers, not platforms, and so they must abide by the same rules.
Fighting against media bias and exposing corruption in social media is exactly why people jumped on the trump train.

It isn’t a statue or a court ruling. It’s an FCC regulation. EO’s can overrule that.

And the FCC commissioner I’m sure is behind it after his YouTube experiment this week

Oh, look, trying to have his cake and eat it too. "We are not the arbiter of truth, but here's the truth **links to CNN opinion piece**".
Funny how this "fact check" happens to be starting up in an election year and their very first ever "fact check" happens to be of the political opposition. Cause we know Twitter doesn't already have the reputation of being biased against certain political beliefs. Wow, Jack!

Social media is garbage. 100% of it. 99% lies and fake and/or baseless information designed to alter opinions not inform.
I'm caught between shut it all down and outlaw it (which I know is impossible) and leave it alone and hope people come to their senses and stop trusting everything they read/hear on SM. (which I also know is impossible.)

Possible since people were asking why he was doing it and nobody knew why.
Gotta get a reason to do it so this may be the way that Trump was able to get them to fall for the bait to do what Trump has wanted to do.
