Lisa Page told Congress that FBI moved "quickly" to obtain a FISA against Carter Page for "operational reasons," according to a transcript leaked to
@EpochTimes

Chuck Ross

@ChuckRossDC
Lisa Page said that FBI began pursuing a FISA against Carter Page about a month before it was finally granted on Oct. 21, 2016. That means the FBI had the Steele dossier for mere days before it began seeking the FISA.

@Chuck Ross
We already knew dossier was unverified when FBI used it, but this timeline shows they had virtually no time at all to check out the Carter Page allegations.

And the biggest leak so far in this developing story:

@ChuckRossDC
Page's testimony also suggests that FBI started seeking FISA *after* obtaining the dossier from Steele. This would tend to support what's already obvious: the dossier was an essential component of the FISA application.

fricking corrupt FBI agents only had dossier for 2 days before using it as evidence to judge

How long would it have taken to fully digest the dossier? I don’t see how this adds anything. If relying on the dossier was bad, nothing changes to me because it was 2 days or 200 days.

We all know Obama's lackeys were spying on Trump.

It's all about the cover up now. That is Mueller's job.

So, 2 days is enough to verify salacious allegations to the point where you feel comfortable swearing to a federal judge it is all correct?

Cool then all you have to do is drop a note claiming Obama murdered Daniel Pearl and no verification is needed launch the investigation.

Is their still a IG investigation into this? I know the clinton e-mail one was out there and I thought this one was still ongoing but haven't heard anything in months.

A few days is nothing to just read the dossier and determine what the general consensus about it is, but there SHOULD be a level of research and verification that goes into it in order to prove truthfulness after that.

The fact that they only gave it a couple days to research and verify after receiving it is the issue here. They couldn't have done a complete and thorough investigation in that time; I'm with federal law enforcement and we would work on a case at this level for months before acting, just to make sure all of our ducks are in a row.

Technically, yes. This was assigned to Huber and falls within scope of Horowitz as IG.

In reality, no. Everyone Congress has interviewed have all testified that they have not heard from Huber. Congress has expressed alarm that Huber has not bothered to interview those key witnesses.

Meanwhile, it’s been two years. Time is not good for investigations. People move on. Memories fade. Documents and evidence. disappear.

Seems like Huber is there to keep things quiet and protect the institution of the DOJ.

Not sure why you got downvotes, this seems like a reasonable position.

If relying on the dossier was bad, why is it super bad that they had the dossier for just a couple days?

It clearly demonstrates next to ZERO effort to verify the allegations in the dossier. and little to no thought about not using it as the basis for the violation of US citizens most basic rights, the same ones that underpin our entire justice system.

frick these slime balls.

Bureaucrats will always defend their own, even if it means obstructing justice.

Guess so. I was already operating under the assumption that DOJ made no real effort to verify what was in the dossier. To that extent this doesn't seem big to me, simply because all it does is confirm what everyone already knew to be true.
