"I will cast my vote in support of the Senate tax reform bill. As revised, this bill will provide much-needed tax relief and simplification for lower- and middle-income families, while spurring the creation of good jobs and greater economic growth," Collins said in a statement.

Senate Republican leaders are backing off their pledge to deficit hawks to shrink the size of the tax package by $350-$400 billion.
Senate Republican Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) told reporters after a meeting Friday morning that is no longer in the bill.
"It's not in the bill," he said.
Instead, GOP leaders worked around deficit-minded Sens. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and Jeff Flake(R-Ariz.) by securing the support of other holdouts.

Is it suspicious that Corker and Flake have become the "deficit hawks" of the Senate all of a sudden?
I follow politics fairly closely and have never heard of either of them bitching about the deficit until now.

Reports now that Flake and Collins are both “yes” votes. The “GOP leaders think they have all 52 republicans” and that some vulnerable Dems are being given the ok to vote for the bill to protect themselves. We’ll see if this is true.

Poors don't pay taxes so why would they need tax breaks?

If they have 52 votes then why would they need any Dems to vote for it?
I'd be astounded if any of the D Senators voted for this bill.

Heitkamp, Donnelly, Tester and Manchin all are vulnerable and know voting “no” will be used against them next year. This way it’s a way to say “I voted for tax breaks” without being “the” deciding vote.

Poors as in the percentage that doesn't pay any taxes and only leeches off the system?

There have been rumors for over a week that two Ds plan to vote "yes" but obviously the R didn't want to have to rely on rumors to pass the bill.

Then don't...it would be these libs in red states that would jump on board to simply say "see I can be bi-partisan and work with Republicans" for their re-election to save their brown shirt asses to say they voted for the tax plan that was a boom to the economy...

If it's going to pass anyway, it makes perfect sense for a vulnerable Dem to support this deal.
If you are a Dem up for reelection in a state Trump won, you'd actually be an idiot to vote against it.
This is nothing new in politics.

That could destroy the DNC if it happens.

I really wish it would be 50/50.

The tax bill will inceasee the deficit. That’s a fact and I can’t see how any “ fiscal conservative person” could support it.
