This is an act of secession. A few days ago a poster was trying to make the case that we did not need a National Divorce . Acts like what Auburn is trying to pull illustrate that we do. Is Auburn with the state of Alabama or riding with xiden ?

That does not surprise me at all.

Yes, they will.

I hope they do it. I think we are long overdue for states to flex their muscles to the federal government.
Yeah right. My wife and our local state rep presented legislation last year to curtail both the governor's emergency powers along with the county health officer's. As small business owners, we didn't want either individual to be able to shut down portions of the economy without the legislature at least weighing in. The legislation didn't make it our of committee and hasn't been readdressed.

What? You didn't like the fricking MeeMaw and her State Dr laid to you small businesses? It was for your own good...
I hate that MeeMaw is trying to act all tough and stand up now.... I also hate the fact that the voters in the State of AL will put her back into office....

AU icon removed. They are dead to me until we clean house.
I honestly never heard of another fan of an SEC school say this I mean at LSU we just call that a Tuesday especially over the last 18 months with Orgeron, woke new university president and spineless governor, but to see a fan of AU say this is eye opening. I can appreciate the red line being drawn out of principle.

Auburn is a heavy research institution which means their lifeblood is federal grant money. I'm sure the leftist professor population are cheering this on, but that's the bottom line with this.
Ron Paul had it correct years ago. We're fricked as long as we're slaves to the fed. Too many states, institutions, jobs and even private businesses rely on the federal printing press. That's the only reason the left pulls this crap...they know as long as they keep printing money, they own DC.

Not sure why this is limited to Auburn or why they're getting the most attention for the mandate. It's the same at every big Alabama school and is going to be the same
Schools in Louisiana can mandate it now because one got fda approval. But, then the schools should be offering the one with approval.
And lucky for Louisiana, exemptions were written into the law, so our schools have to allow personal and religious exemptions.
When you read the fine print, some of the different vaccinations are just recommended for students that will be living in on campus housing.

Makes perfect sense, thanks for peeling back the onion layer and giving us a little insight into what makes AU tick, and that's the fed grants etc. In my opinion, when push comes to shove, they would have to bend as AU is state chartered and going against its own Board of Supervisor bylaws, corporate governance.

we've tied so much of our existence to federal subsidies that we are basically serfs under the boot of the federal government

Pretty much all of them are, at least the larger one's... Hell even Troy does research and UAH...
Auburn and the other schools could easily pursue private funding for their research. The only problem with that is the privates are not going to fund bullshite, feel good research like the Federal government does...

These idiots are going to fire your football coach and relegate you to Missouri status. Academics can truly be morons.

The state leg doesn't want the ball in their court. Then they might actually have to do something. Most of the legislature didnt even want to go to work last year.

If they fire Harsin, they will have a riot on their hands. They don't have the balls.

...and a lot of the agriculture and vet medicine schools would fall into that sphere. But the privates also want that government cash for aerospace, defense contracts, etc. and the subsequent support and research they receive from universities. To be clear, screw Auburn on this...but I suspect most universities are going to side with the fed because they can print the money.

They don't think logically like you and I. Academics live in a different reality.

It is kinda interesting. Wazzou could get away with it because let’s be honest it’s CFB in Washington. Will any big time SEC school seriously do the same? Unlikely

“Federal law, including validly issued executive orders and agency regulations, supersedes and preempts conflicting state law. As a federal contractor, Auburn is subject to these new requirements, notwithstanding any conflicting Alabama law.”
Some of the legal challenges involve it not being a lawful regulation. OSHA has a narrow purview and there are multiple steps to make a new regulation, including a comment period.
