I'm sure the state legislature will be more than happy to cut off Auburn's state funding should they refuse to comply with a governor's executive order.

I hope they do it. I think we are long overdue for states to flex their muscles to the federal government.

I mean, meemaw's EO is pretty toothless and even says that federal penalties may still apply, so unless I'm missing something in her EO, I blame her for the toothless EO.

When it comes to state institutions, like Auburn, you could not be more wrong. Her EO is pretty decent overall, but it is extremely clear in its language about state institutions.

You are probably right. I'm probably just focusing my frustration about brandon's mandate on meemaw. But I do wish she would've issued this EO a lot sooner.

She should tell the Legislature to take this up in their upcoming special session for redistricting.

I assume it’s an idiotic spin gotcha take on how aren’t we as citizens of the United States subject to king Biden’s wims and wishes. Not worth explaining to someone who can’t understand it though.

The hardest part of 2 weeks to slow the spread is the first 511 days.

How s a "state" school not subject to the governor?

Because student loans are funded by the federal government. Over 50% of all tuition is paid in federal loans

It’s just like the old saying money talks bullshite walks

It's the same at every big Alabama school and is going to be the same at every big public U in the SE, most likely

Despite having a Democrat governor, Louisiana has laws on the books stating that students can opt out of vaccines for medical, religious or philosophical reasons. LSU has a vaccine "mandate" but is forced by law to offer a waiver. My son has a vaccine for every LSU request but COVID-19 which he signed a waiver.

So did Brandon say he was pulling student loans if you don't get the vax?

I ask again how is a school in AL not subject to the AL governor?

I answer again... They take federal money. Federal government has made it a requirement to enforce the policy in order to get the funds and the work.

That is a damn good idea — whatever action is taken, there should be hell to pay to send the AU administration a message.

Is Auburn going to be a state institution that serves the needs of it’s citizens or a Federal institution that serves the needs of the Deep State? If the latter, defund the bastards and let them suck exclusively on the Federal teat.

He's refusing to be vaxxed. He doesn't say that directly, but refuses to comment which leads everyone to believe he hasn't been vaxxed. He also says it's a personal decision for his players.

So it will be interesting to see how AU handles it if Harsin refuses to show proof of vaccination.

“Federal law, including validly issued executive orders and agency regulations, supersedes and preempts conflicting state law. As a federal contractor, Auburn is subject to these new requirements, notwithstanding any conflicting Alabama law.”

The fact that someone working for an institution of higher learning spouted this in relation to this vaccine mandate just makes me sick...

MeeMaw needs to get off of her arse and include an actual LAW in the special session, then call their bluff...
