Ill never celebrate "apprehending" a large large % of mostly nonviolent people trying to flee oppressive conditions, to seek asylum for themselves and families in a better land. They are in search of freedom like our founders, and I will always support that cause.
Its pretty barbaric to glee over locking people up.

Stupid. As. Hell.
If you do not, cannot, or will not enforce your border, you eventually will not have a country. I have no problem with folks seeking a better life here, but they MUST do so on our terms. Period.
The fact that you can rationalize away such a remarkably simple concept is unreal. Facing hardship in one country does not give anyone carte blanche to breach the border of another sovereign nation without permission or due process.

Is there an estimate of how many get thru without being apprehended??
Maybe not so many now that getting "apprehended" is their get out of jail free card, plus free medical care, good food, decent housing, free trips to wherever they want to go, then set free.

It's looking like FY19 is having a major upward trend of border apprehensions. Just about every month has had the highest apprehensions since the last 5 fiscal years. If you follow the data, you notice a sharp decrease in apprehensions just after Trump took office, and that continued on for several months, but things started to return to normal in FY18 and there's a noticeable increase since then. I'm guessing people were afraid of crossing in 2017 because of Trump's rhetoric...now they are trying to get across before the wall is built?

What you are suggesting is that Trump ignore the law and the courts.
While I would like to see that happen, I'm completely convinced that doing so would guarantee impeachment by the Democrat House and conviction and removal by the Republican Senate.
