I am struggling to see a motivation for making the announcement that isn't narcissistic.

Anyone?

It does seem like a family and close friends thing than a newspaper ad.

Maybe she truly believes in the power of prayer. Maybe she doesn’t want people to wander why her public schedule is changing, maybe she is facing the hardest road she has faced next to losing Ben and wants peoples good thoughts.

How about instead of being a hack you assume goodwill or at least keep your BS to yourself?

The woman is likely dying at a much to young way in a manner no one should have to.

Thanks for the possible explanations. I am sincerely attempting to understand it. What she did is completely foreign to me and something I would never do.

While reading the editorial I struggled to figure out what the point of it was. Especially since she is no longer in any public office.

What was the part about where she compared herself to "Esther"? Was Blanco equating herself to some biblical heroine?

I never felt KBB had a personal agenda and I always felt she took the interest of businesses in consideration when governing the state. JBE wants to find some class action suit he can farm out to his trial lawyer buddies and then profit from when he leaves office.

KBB continues to honestly advocate for what she views as what is best for the State and I respect that.

Prayers for Governor Blanco and her family.

She prolly not gunna make it another year. Heard it was pretty serious. Prolly just saying goodbye. Instead of dying 6 months from now and everybody saying, wtf didn’t know she was sick.

She WAS the governor and is well known throughout the state. She’s also a first class person. Coach Blanco (the former first guy) is also well known. They don’t want everyone to hear rumors or be surprised. It’s an acceptable thing.

I am heartened by the kind responses in this thread. A lot of people did not think she was the best governor, but recognize she is a good person and wish her and her family strength during this time.

Part of it comes across as a desire by Blanco for everyone to reevaluate her response to Katrina because that's what defined her legacy as Governor.

Outside of the awful way she handled Katrina, KBB was a much better governor than BJ. She actually had the best interest of the state in mind, unlike her successor who was only looking out for Number One.

Despite her reaction to Katrina, an event that blindsided leaders at all levels of government, KBB is a good person who always did her best to do what was right for Louisiana.

I know the Babineaux family loosely through family and friends, and she is a first class lady who is definitely liked by many around the state. She is more than deserving of our thoughts and prayers during what may be her final months.

Prayers and good thoughts to Kathleen Blanco. Hope she fights like hell but never suffers a moment's pain.

She may not have been the best Governor but at least she wasn't a corrupt piece of crap that lies constantly and actually did what she thought was best for Louisiana.

I would honestly love her as Governor right now over JBE.
