On vacation. They had runny noses but mostly body aches all over. Everybody stayed home two weeks and got over it. Now he says it's great and he's glad they all got it at once.

Everybody has an opinion but it's here and a fact of life and the only real answer is immunity. A vaccine is trying to hit a moving target and is usually about 50% or so effective. And here's no reason to think the shot for this will be any different. That's what the VA tells me on flu shots every year. Btw this guy said his doctor told him now is a good time to have the covid-19 if you're gonna get it since it's somewhat weakened by the heat and humidity now and that may be part of why he and his family were not affected that much.

Yeah, but it has mutates already twice. Will antibodies get it it after mutating?

Genuinely curious.

That’s exactly how my former neighbor and his wife described their combined bout with it: A week of the flu, one weekend from hell, then it was over/ran its course.

Thankfully, both are young and fit.

Poor Bil, and family. Had the same chance of getting by living your normal life.

Oh its mutated far more than twice. All viruses mutate. CV19is no different. Though it is less prone to mutation than many other viruses, and most CV19 mutations are irrelevant. They do often enable us to identify virus associated with geographic regions.

In terms of vaccination potency, we see no indication that changes in CV19 will impact vaccine effectiveness at all.

Covid-19 is Chinese biological warfare. It was engineered to efficiently infect humans. We ought to release one of our own biological agents over China as payback.

into a less deadly version of the original virus. IE by the end of this viruses mutation it will be considered a common chest cold

I don't know how much I agree with you one the first part, but if we could target certain subjects, I'm down for the second part. I don't want us to figuratively drop a bomb on the poor Chinese populous.

Exposure level directly influences severity. Some folks hardly notice they had it. Sounds like these folks might have had a good dose.

That’s why COVID parties can be a death sentence. 4 hours of exposure.

We’d probably be smart to intentionally expose healthy folks to the minimal amount to illicit an immune response

Immunity after getting Covid 19 most likely only lasts a few months.

I don’t think anyone knows yet what the long term outcome looks like.

Here’s an interesting JAMA article - COVID-19 and Postinfection Immunity: Limited Evidence, Many Remaining Questions
quote:

In summary, existing limited data on antibody responses to SARS-CoV-2 and related coronaviruses, as well as one small animal model study, suggest that recovery from COVID-19 might confer immunity against reinfection, at least temporarily. However, the immune response to COVID-19 is not yet fully understood and definitive data on postinfection immunity are lacking. Amidst the uncertainty of this public health crisis, thoughtful and rigorous science will be essential to inform public health policy, planning, and practice.

It lasts as long as the antibodies are present and that could be or should be a long, long time.

Exactly how I felt.
Lost taste and smell for about 7-10 days .

Smell still isn’t 100%, taste is back.
Been 18 days since I had fever/aches.

The flu vaccines are far from 100%. Last year was more like 40%. The flu vaccine doesn't guarantee that you won't get the flu, but it does greatly reduce your chances that it won't kill you.

Evidently according to a German study, the people who are asymptomatic generally have had another coronavirus in the past that is part of the common cold set.

Wife and I live in Gulf Shores.
I have a biz and she’s a teacher.
I didn’t close shop (only insurance agency that stayed open).
We both have it. I’ve been quarantined for two weeks, working from guest room. She’s been quarantined for a week. We have a 9 month old.
I ran a fever for like 24 hrs and had a slight cough. She’s fairing similarly.
For the overwhelming majority of us, this virus ain’t shite.

Really really bad comparison. Terrible in fact.

A) The Fluvax is always formulated in anticipation of strains, rather than in response to them. In other words, we toss out our best guess as to which strain(s) will be prominent and preordain a vaccine which should be effective against those. With exception of the Jenner vaccine, CV19 Vaccines specifically target the CV19 strain.

B) Influenza is much more mutable than CV19. Over the course of a season, a flu bug which was initially warded off by vaccination can render that vaccine less and less effective over time. There is virtually no chance of that occurring with CV19.
