Just remember don’t closed primaries start next cycle.
If so, it will depend on how the republicans act in this closed primary. If they get pouty like the Vitter/Edwards election then the seat will be lost to a democrat if the democrats can field a reasonable one. That could mean Edwards, Cedric Richmond, or even Mitch Landrieu have a shot at the seat.

Cassidy had a better chance in the old jungle primary system. Cassidy has no chance of winning a closed GOP primary and then a closed GOP primary runoff.

I won't vote for Cassidy. The Republican party better give another option. I don't think he can win.

Cassidy won’t win the new closed party primary. However, the republican who knocks him off could be facing an uphill battle in the general election vs the Democrat, especially if it’s JBE.
