The last time we saw one of these ridiculous claims, they were comparing the inflation to the previous month, meaning that it was 8% in May and 8% in June, so that means 0% inflation rate.

This is the communist goal. Always has been, always will be. If not for fear of the second amendment we would already be a full police state dictatorship.(Obama’s dream of his father)

I'm getting more for my work. My 401K is increasing nicely.

Yes prices are up for everything, but it is due to so many factors.

Take gasoline prices. Oil is rising due to OPEC control and Saudi decreasing production worldwide.

Gas prices rising due to excessive heat waves causing refineries to slow [production due to dangerous consitions. Less product, higher price.

Election still a long way off, so let's see how the economy is performing next summer.

Trillion plus deficient budget and the downgrade of the US bond is a horrible economic plan.

If everything is more expensive you aren’t getting more for your work.

Is your company the only company that hasn’t raised the price of whatever good or service you are selling?

But I’ve underestimated Bidenomics. It’s turning out to be the most successful set of economic policies the United States has witnessed in a half-century.

Show me someone who slept through the non-Covid years of the Trump administration. FFS, at least keep it plausible.

Bidenomics is working alright. It is working flawlessly. It’s just that that numbnuts’ goal is to destroy the middle class so it’s working for him.

Biden or any Democrat will win another term. The GOP is toast. We will never see anything but leftists as President.

All I know is that the wife and I (no pics you filthy animals) went to Walk Ons on a Tuesday night and were greeted with a 45 minute wait.

Someone’s making some money.

That could easily be a lack of wait staff or cooks as much as too many people.

I’ve never seen a more protected man. Even more so than Obama. Full cooperation of the entire media and Justice department. Basically unbeatable.

Gas prices rising, food prices haven't dropped

food prices haven't dropped

No one is saying they're dropping, but that the growth in the rate of price increases are slowing. The problem is what you've demonstrated though, that many people see "inflation is decreasing" and think "prices are going down" (that's "deflation"). Many in DC and political (and media) circles count on that misunderstanding just like they do when politicians say they've "cut spending" when what they really mean is "we cut the rate of growth in spending". In other words, it's still going up but just not as fast/much and talking heads love to try to use that missed distinction to push their agendas.

As to the slowing rate of growth in food... some have, some haven't. The big issue with the Food category in CPI is there is no weighting based on how much of the consumer base is/isn't buying a certain thing.

Let's take bread (by pound) for example.

In June 2021 the national average price was $1.510/pound
In June 2022 the national average price was $1.691/pound
In June 2023 the national average price was $1.937/pound

This means we saw a ~10.3% increase from June 2021 to June 2022 then a ~12.% increase from June 2022 to June 2023. So for something like bread, we still see over a 20% increase in price even though the rate of inflation on it is dropping. That's well above the average CPI for food and it's a product most people buy. It's a similar story with soft drinks.

What we need to actually drop prices is deflation, but that usually comes at the price of a frickton of job loss.
