President Biden would easily beat former President Donald Trump in a hypothetical 2024 election matchup — but would lose if he faced off against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, according to a recent poll.

In a rematch of the 2020 presidential contest, the 80-year-old Biden would prevail over his 76-year-old predecessor by eight percentage points in the popular vote — 49% to 41% — but would fall to the Sunshine State’s Republican governor by 45% to 42% in a head-to-head contest, the WPA Intelligence survey released Jan. 13 found.

I've been saying DeSantis is the future if Republicans want power again.

What happened to all the people who used to slam candidates who tried to run after a loss? They used to get made fun of, now this board clamors for trump again.

If people can't see Trump won't win again in a general election, I don't know what to say. He doesn't say things that'll get independents or undecided voters to vote for him. In fact, he does the exact opposite and detracts potential voters away.

This is why the Founders abhorred Democracy. It's 'mob rule', with nefarious and pernicious 'leaders' manipulating stupid/ignorant/misguided people. Kinda like up in NYC, where 'leaders' turn the criminals loose and crime goes rampant. Duh!

Trump cannot win the middle. The middle independents decide all elections.

There are some of us unfortunately who don't care that Trump is dramatically underwater independents and would further spur democrat turnout. They would rather strap a suicide bomb to themselves. Hoping that some people will see light.

I think we need to Mark the difference between "Republicans" and conservatives, MAGA, Republicans, RINO etc.

They have such divergent beliefs that it isn't meaningful to lump them in to one group. Republicans still exist but they are a subset of a larger right party that includes the above categories.

You may think I am doing their dirty work because I don't hold Trump as a monarch who can do no wrong and is entitled to a 3rd run.

I see it differently. I would rather stave off the inevitable demise of the republic for at least my kids' generation.

That's the issue. Many are so mad that they just want Trump to blow shite up again and say basically f you to the system again. Not failing to see he's learned nothing and has surrounded himself with the same swamp he ran in draining in 2016.

2016 was a unique year and after coming off 8 years of Obama and with PC starting to run rampant, people wanted a change. Trump not only provided that but he also came with a big f you to the system. However, things have changed, he's learned nothing and any chance he had of being reelected we're gone when he lost in 2020, imo.

If the republicans were to win in 24, I would really like to see them try to bring the country together. I'm not saying give up your ideology, but tone down the rhetoric and quit bashing on the media so they'll quit looking for shite to make up. If they could somehow do that, that would be huge for future elections in securing the middle votes that's needed to win any election.

I'd only vote for Trump. I'm not a party cheerleader though.

I'll preface what I'm about to say with this, I voted for trump in 16, didn't vote in 20. Just mentioned that to say it's not like I hate trump.

That said, show me some real, solid proof and not just BS claims from people on social media that Trump actually won the election. Some of y'all have really been turned into idiots by the blind following of Trump.

Those suburbia Karen's that live in cookie cutter houses drinking vitamin water & Soy milk smoothies on their exercise bikes... Will be lining up to vote for Ron who will ban gays and take away their right to kill babies, get birth control & pap smears!

The unionjacks in the rust belt will line up and vote in triplicate to vote against Ron TPP.

Anything but that orange man, even if Big Mike wins.

SEE Romney. And GWBush who supports Ron from his nerdy Bushite, Karl Rove, Top Guv Maverick white chalk board, think tank, that needed a court to win.

Ask yourself if Ron gets that big arse red paint brush to carte blanche' redistrict in PA & the rustbelt.

It is almost like you are an establishment guy or that you bought a guac bowl from !Jeb!

What the hard-core Trumpers don't realize is that Trump has long since lost the middle and he's lost a big group of people that voted for him twice. He doesn't have nearly the support now that he did in 2020. The vaccine pushed a lot away. His ineffectiveness pushed more.

He's a liability now and the sooner everyone realizes that, the better.

Biden will be lucky to make it through this year.
If the Dems run him in 2024 I’ll be stunned.
So while this poll is entertaining, Biden won’t be running against either Trump or DeSantis.

I don't agree with the poll. I think the only way Trump has a chance is if the Dems run Biden. He's not in good shape and will only be worse by then.
