According to bookmaker Betfair, the former vice president is "strong odds-on favorite" in the first head-to-head contest of the election.

Biden is out in front with odds of 4/9 to win the debate against Trump, who is 13/8, the betting firm said.

"Biden appears to be ahead in several of the key swing-states that are crucial to ensuring victory in the race for the White House. States like Ohio, Arizona, and Michigan, where Trump won in 2016, seem to be polling in favor of Biden, exactly 35 days until polling day."

Tuesday's grilling of both candidates will be a major milestone in the campaign, yet the vast majority of Americans say they have already made up their minds on how they will vote, according to recent polls, suggesting the outcome of the debate may have only a limited impact on the final result.

These odds being offered are based on who wins the CNN snap poll after the debate.

No shite Biden would be favored in that.

Maybe a dumb question on my part but how do you determine, for betting purposes, who "wins" a debate?

I mean CNN will slobber about how Biden destroyed Trump, this board will declare Vermont a swing state after Trump's performance, etc.

How do they objectively define who wins an subjective contest?

When they say favorite to win does that mean that he actually finishes without falling or something like that?

Anyone else think he challenges Trump to a pushup contest if he stumbles on his words?

Of course Biden will win....articles are already written. Talking points already distributed among the talking heads.

Has the GOP ever "won a debate"?

The media will claim Biden won even if he pisses himself and manages to commit suicide on stage.

Same thing is said about the election, however we all know Trump will dominate both.

Debates are like signing day. Your team always wins.

Tell that to much of the Pac 12 the last few years.

Some of their top schools were probably getting boat raced by the MAC.

If Biden doesn't stroke out, piss himself, or die on stage he wins

I placed a bet on my death pool that Biden drops dead on stage tonight. No arguing that result so I feel it's a safe thing.

Never doubt the media's obsession with making chicken salad out of chicken shite when it comes to Biden. So long as he doesn't show up drooling, falling over, and words are coming out of his mouth, they'll declare him the winner after 30 seconds.

A poll asking people "who won"

In this case specifically the winning bet will be decided based on who wins a CNN snap poll after the debate. So this is really a bet about who wins a CNN snap poll and not really about who wins a debate.

Might actually be a solid bet to make some money.

more like a Chinese election. The propaganda arm of the communist party announces the communist candidate the victor.
