Your point is valid.
Beyond the actual damage caused by this administration’s actions (and lack there of), a no confidence reaction has been projected onto many Americans. People don’t take him seriously, and that harms the Office of the Presidency.
Worse, It’s dangerous and will ultimately manifest itself in how enemies treat the US—if it hasn’t done so already.

"Lots of border agents to patrol...."It came out in a House Committee hearing that those 1,300 new agents would only be involved with helping to paper process immigrants already in the country; i.e. they would not be patrolling or helping the existing agents patrol the border.
