Let’s just say there is a MUCH larger population to choose from of qualified individuals when you say “I want someone qualified” rather than “I want someone black and female with a law background”.

The former starts at 100% of the population and winnows down.

The latter automatically starts you at about 6% of the population and then sees a massive drop from there because there aren’t huge amount of black females with a law background.

And it also means that the latter’s background would be far more scrutinized because there was not exactly a lot of competition for that spot.

Don’t blame me for automatically making assumptions because the dumbass in chief declared that he was going to pick someone where there were barely any applicants who could meet the bar to even be considered.

Of course. I've already commented on that.

And it only hurts the public perception of his choice. Instead of judging her on her merits people will assume that she's not qualified because of the absurd criteria that he mentioned ahead of picking her.

She may very well be qualified but thanks to Biden, no one will ever give her that benefit of a doubt.

According to wikipedia, Jackson was introduced at her December 2011 confirmation hearing by Republican Paul Ryan, a relative through marriage.

She can also thank Obama for that perception while we are at it.

Sotomayor is arguably the least competent justice in my lifetime and was picked solely to check certain boxes.

Unfortunately for her everyone is going to assume that she isn't qualified since Biden came out and said ahead of time that picking a black woman was part of his criteria.

Had he just picked her and not come out and said that she would be viewed on her merits as she should be.

I agree with this. One of the big problems with the left, and politics in general, is the constant pandering to one group or another. Just do what you’re going to do without making some big show about how righteous your decisions are, or are going to be.

The packaging really doesn’t matter. They were never going to pick someone who isn’t a rubber stamp for the most psychotic fringes of the left

The amount of Racism in your post is pathetic, just as you are. She is qualified for the job. Has more than enough credentials. You all praised the sh*t judge Trump put in place but we get a woman of color and it is a problem. Gone head and hate bro!

You forgot the most important thing on her resume. Black.

Well, at least you’re honest by admitting that all that matters to you is her political views.

For Independent vote in midterms. I think the Republicans play nice. This is not a court decider and let this be LGB's legacy.

"Judge Jackson's record of reversals by the left-leaning D.C. Circuit is troubling for anyone concerned about the rule of law," Judicial Crisis Network president Carrie Severino told Fox News Digital on Tuesday. "For example, in Make the Road New York v. Wolf, a D.C. Circuit panel composed of a majority of Democratic nominees concluded that Jackson had set aside a Trump administration rule where there was no legal basis to do so."

"Cases like these suggest that Jackson might be willing in politically charged cases to ignore the law to deliver a particular policy outcome, and that's not what we want to see from a Supreme Court justice," she continued.

quote:

One 2019 case involved an order that expanded the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) definition on which noncitizens could be deported. Another overturning involved a trio of orders on federal employees’ collective bargaining power.

Jackson's DHS ruling was overturned in a 2-1 decision by the D.C. Circuit Court, which said reviewing the DHS policy did not fall under the Administrative Procedure Act.

The judge's ruling on the three collective bargaining orders was overturned unanimously b;y the D.C. Circuit Court, which ruled that Jackson did not have jurisdiction to adjudicate the case.

While the overturning of Jackson’s cases presents a potential roadblock to her confirmation, the overturning of cases can happen for a number of reasons, including some that have nothing to do with the decisions themselves.

She is going to fit in great with Sotomayor and Kegan who want to rule based on feelings than the rule of law.
