He is a POS and his handlers trying to scorch Earth before leaving...but, he is not outlawing cigarettes. He wants to lower the amount of nicotine allowed in them. I disagree with the move, but just clarifying the headlines floating around

The irony is the nicotine might be the addictive part of cigarettes but they're not the worst part. So now people might smoke more cigs to get their nic fix this worsening their health.

Yeah I distinctly remember the cultural clash between their poles.

The crunchy urban libs cheered it and then they were promptly called racists by the lower class end of the Left

One of the many alphabet agencies we really do not need or needs to be curtailed significantly...

We need the FDA, the purpose it's supposed to serve is needed. Hopefully, RFK jr will overhaul and get the agency back on track and outta the control of Big Pharma.

Tobacco and marijuana are both weeds.

Why is one that was illegal on it's way to being legal
and the other that was legal on it's way to being illegal?

WASHINGTON — The Biden administration is moving forward with plans to mandate lower nicotine levels in cigarettes in the final days of President Biden’s term, according to a new report, which critics say could cause Americans to smoke more and fuel organized crime cartels.

The plan, which is touted as a way to reduce the ability of cigarettes to hook casual users, cleared a regulatory review last week by the Food and Drug Administration, the agency told Fox News.

But opponents argue that the change could cause current smokers to use more cigarettes to compensate for the lower nicotine levels, negatively impacting their health, and that the plan could open an opportunity for black-market sales of standard-strength cigarettes.

Personally I wish they'd go away.they are a health hazard at best and a proven killer.

So is a lot of the food and soft drinks we consume. So is alcohol. So are a lot of prescription medications

It’s not the job of govt to regulate people’s personal choices. If they want to kill themselves by smoking, that’s their choice

Didn't he already go after menthols?

Or is my chronology all wrong

He did, but put on hold to not hurt his black vote. Though he was clear he would do it in his 2nd term. So that's what the Dems think of their black voters.

Lower nicotine levels?

Would that be like adding more filler and less tobacco into the cigarettes? Leading to people smoking more cigarettes or switching to 100s?

Maybe he should make it illegal for anyone with mental health issues to have the ability to make laws or restrictions for the entire population of a country.
