Biden Freezes New Gulf Coast Natural Gas Terminals, Says it will Lower Prices for US

Right now the Louisiana gulf coast produces 87 million tonnes of liquified natural gas (LNG) a year, enough to satisfy the combined needs of Germany and France together.
Five terminal projects already approved for construction will add another 67 million tonnes of capacity within 2 years.
This week Biden froze these building approvals, citing their contribution to climate change, but also that lower exports will somehow drop prices for US consumers of LNG.
I’m not an economist but I have a hard time believing wiping out that many jobs will somehow be good for the companies and families on the gulf coast whose livelihood is producing the fuel that heats the world.
Maybe some workers in the LNG industry can prove me wrong - how is this a good thing?

Whatever this administration says , believe the opposite.

No one ever accused Democrats of understanding economics

The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.

can we say administration instead of just biden bc anyone who says biden sounds like you actually think biden is involved.

The administration seems to be interfering with simple supply and demand. Louisiana companies are building more terminals because there is a demand for almost double what they are producing.
Government interference will affect the downstream consumers who actually need this to heat their homes, stockholders who invest in these LNG companies, and the Louisiana families that work in and rely on this industry.

An artificial domestic oversupply will put downward pressure on local prices. At least for a little while.
But that won't help jobs.

Gvt will use civil rights and global warming to override the constitution and tear down the United States. This is their new bill of rights and constitution.

Nor will it help the trade deficit

So lowering the supply of LNG (or keeping it constant) and reducing exports is supposed to drop LNG prices and help our import/export trade component of GDP?

This is a really dumb move by Biden and I don’t understand what he thinks this will accomplish.

Great, my home heating gas bill last month went through the roof and now you tell me this clown is going to freeze natural gas terminals. This warmongering loonytoon is watching while Iran attacks our oil tankers and yesterday the price of gasoline jumped $.36 cents a gallon in one day. I guess we can expect another jump in grocery prices.
Then these radical leftist in this administration have the audacity to tell us how great things are.
The Fossil Fuel hating crowd wants us using renewable energy (which is really now renewable) and eating Grasshopper Burgers.
Add insult to injury. The UniParty wants to give welfare checks to illegal aliens. You can't make this up.

Biden has no clue wtf is going on

Biden hasn't had to work and pay for his own power or gas bill in his entire life

These terminals won’t be needed after the upcoming war kills a large percentage of the population in Europe. They are just trying to keep us from wasting resources building something that won’t be needed.

It is not a good thing. We are fcked as long as this regime controls the levers.
This is going to be a spicy year.
Buckle up.

Here’s the thing, the pause will not put a dent in carbon emissions or reverse their concerns for climate change.
Thia pause is a limited one. It will only affect exports of LNG to countries with which the U.S. does not have a free trade agreement, and it does not prevent exports from the eight LNG export facilities already operating—though it will slow construction on several other export facilities, including one in Louisiana which would be America's largest when finished. Even with the "pause" in place, the White House says America's LNG exports are expected to double by the end of the decade, thanks to America's booming natural gas industry and the energy needs of a world that's getting wealthier.
Here’s the thing- if they don’t get our natural gas, they’ll get it from others.
Russia and other enemies are sure to step in to fill the void.
or, of more concern, they’ll use high carbon energy products like asphalt, oil, coal….
This is pure political window dressing by the Biden admin so that they can get on the stump and proclaim that they cut back 67 million cubic tons of carbon to save the planet. It’s pandering to your voters.
The idiot climate change zealots will cheer.
Then they’ll continue on their way being hypocrites in THEIR behavior.
Hopefully Trump can capitalize on this and point out the idiocy and how it’s a win for Russia while we continue to shoot our selves in the foot.
