If you can find any books about history, start hoarding them.

President Donald Trump is still trying to advance “patriotic education,” announcing 33 days before his departure from office his intent to appoint members of a 1776 Commission. The group will be led by the president of the conservative Hillsdale College, Larry Arnn, a longtime Trump ally, who will serve as chairman,

so I'm not sure why they'd feel the need to eliminate it?
Because optics are the most important job for the President of the US anymore.

I already teach my son to take what he’s taught in school with a grain of salt. Even math is not the same thanks to common core. I believe that while math, science, and English are important.... history is the most vital to society. If we don’t learn from history we are doomed to repeat it. As a student of history it’s scary to see some of the parallels of the past returning to the modern world.

And what was that?
It was both a q-call and an executive order demanding that slavery be whitewashed under the guise of patriotism.

Victor Davis Hanson was on the commission. He's not a professional historian?
