President Biden acknowledged Monday that prices are still “too high” and argued that companies should lower them after an 18% jump in consumer costs since he took office.

“We know that prices are still too high for too many things — that times are still too tough for too many families,” the 81-year-old said near the White House.

“We’ve made progress, but we have more work to do,” Biden added. “Let me be clear to any corporation has not brought their prices back down, even as inflation has come down, even supply chains have been rebuilt: It’s time to stop the price gouging and give the American consumer a break.”

The prices of some goods, such as food products, are expected to decline in the coming months, but periods of general deflation are rare in US history.

Inflation is still above 3% (and actually higher for a lot of consumer items). That means costs (and prices) continue to INCREASE.

This isn't being helped by states increasing minimum wages and all the new shiny and pricey labor agreements being pushed by these idiots.

Where does this retard think these reductions are going to come from?

So as costs continue to rise just to be able to conduct business they're supposed to charge less for the goods produced. That’s an interesting take and a very incomplete picture of how business is conducted across its many facets. But when you’ve been in government longer than I’ve been alive and work off of bribes I can’t say that I’m shocked at his opinion of demonizing the producers.

He’s just setting the table of absolving his administration of their failures and pinning them on everyone else. It’s very “adults are back in charge” of him.

Shuts down new leases on federal land and scares TC Energy out of appealing the SC decision, hence Bidenflation, hence higher interest rates. But yeah, it’s the seller’s fault.

Like that one time he begged oil companies to lower their prices. But anyone but Trump, right?

I would like to see someone throat punch the person saying that mid-“clea—“

I’m NOT [eta sheesh, FBI and SS have hacked my phone] promoting violence here, so I’ll just have to wait for the AI animated scene or biopics about certain people.

Business owners can’t give their employees raises, pay for their health insurance, give them six weeks off for paternity leave, pay higher utility costs, and not increase their prices and turn a profit.

It’s simple. Greedy companies just sell products for less!!

And in turn, layoff staff to stay profitable…

Democrats truly are an ignorant group of he/shes.

One part of your comment should be sought under Bidenomics. Screw your costs and drop your prices to do Ol' Joe a solid.

The press sec said today that prices were high but items like toys, tvs and used cars are lower

They’re so dumb yet so are many Americans. Our priorities are toys and flatscreens.

Ole boy doesn't understand how markets and economics work.

If people are paying the higher prices, there is no incentive to charge lower prices.

So it’s the blame game now? Is this a call to the power brokers to squeeze companies and lower the prices before the election?

If Democrats had the mental capacity to comprehend simple economics, they wouldn’t be Democrats anymore.
