WASHINGTON — The Biden administration took a key step toward approving a huge oil drilling project in the North Slope of Alaska, angering environmental activists who said allowing it to go forward would make a mockery of President Joe Biden’s climate change promise to end new oil leases.

The ConocoPhillips project, known as Willow and located in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, was initially approved under the Trump administration and was later supported by the Biden administration but was then was blocked by a judge who said the environmental review had not sufficiently considered its effects on climate change and wildlife.

On Friday, the Biden administration issued a new environmental analysis. In that analysis, the Department of the Interior said the multibillion-dollar plan would at its peak produce more than 180,000 barrels of crude oil a day and would emit at least 278 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions over its lifetime from the burning of the oil produced, as well as from construction and drilling activity at the site.

Yet just by issuing the analysis, the Biden administration signaled its support for the project, opponents said. Willow is a priority for Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, a moderate who is frequently the most likely senator to break with her party and support Democratic appointees and some policy compromises.

There is no greater threat to energy independence and worldwide peace today than a tree hugging environmentalist. Prove me wrong.

Well, they need to get off their asses and do the required studies so they can go forward with the project. If both administrations have been in support of the project, maybe ConocoPhillips doesn’t really want to do it.

A few judges on the 4th Circuit have been blocking every natural gas pipeline in the northeast for the last 4 years.

Obama had a dramatic effect on the Fourth Circuit, with six appointments.

America does need to curb the inflated power of judges. Not sure how that happens.

Kickbacks to Bidens directly or paying off favors is the only explanation.

Yeah, this is how politics works. People can sit here and argue about what party should be in charge, blah blah blah. All of these "serious issues" like abortion, etc, etc but that bullshite is just a front. They dangle that shite in front of the people to keep their attention on shite that really shouldn't be that big of an issue while they do things that's in their best interest.

Article V amendment process. Article V has become more forgotten than the 10th amendment in age of activist judges.

Court gets to define its review powers and doesn’t have a true check & balance on it after justices get confirmed. Self discipline of justices is only the check. These need to be corrected. A nullification process also needs to be spelled out that gives states more of say when court grows federal power over the states.

The environmentalists are powerless without the politicians and corporations who pander to them.

What was the tweet about the SCOTUS judges? Something about never having a peaceful moment? I think that would apply here.
