Chevron’s CEO, along with Pioneer’s CEO, has been amongst the most outspoken of significant oil company CEOs against the Biden administration and their race to energy transition without a real plan.
Also, Chevron has other board members who have helped keep it a good oil & gas company.

I think existing sanctions prevent oil and gas companies from investment in Venezuela. Plus they need govt approval to ship the oil to the US to refine. Their oil is heavy crude and the US is one of the few places that can refine it.
These sanctions lead to some odd arrangements. When Trump ramped up sanctions on Iran, California was all for it. Liberal California?? Certainly not for the O&G industry in the US they hate the industry, so why on earth would California be for them. Turns out the largest producers of pistachios in the world are in Iran, second largest Cali. So they making some bank, big bank off the sanctions.

The whole thing is shot through with hypocrisy, but there is more to it than this. We have refineries, here in Louisiana, that were tooled for the heavy Venezuelan crude. With the overall shortage of refineries, I think the Biden Administration is trying to get more production out of these refineries.
They are probably also reacting to bribes from Chevron, which would dearly love to recover some of the balance sheet that was stolen from them by the Venezuelan commies.

So we have sanctions against Venezuela but select companies don't have to follow those sanctions. And this undermines the intent of the sanctions??? So why do we have sanctions? Is it to pick companies that can prosper while damaging others?
