That is not guaranteed. Beshear is already fighting it the background that he can still appoint the seat. Nobody on the GOP side trusts him which is why the KY state legislature modified rules so he could not but this has not been tested.
Fair enough... having done a quick googling, I see where these concerns are real and warranted- as well as the PITA of having a special election so close to the actual election.

Either power hungry or too compromised to leave on their own terms and time.

Well, lets be fair... Turtle's a perfect example along w/ Ms. Lindsey. It's not them as much as their senior staff and family. I don't like it but I can see why they do it. Just like you stated OP.

It’s one of the best jobs most can imagine. Minimal accountability, 6 year terms, generous staff and pension, high exposure if you want it or you fly mostly below radar. Precious little in the way of real work to do but very high prestige.

Tommy Tuberville is quitting.
No, he’s not. He’s just taking his grift to the governor’s mansion in Alabama. Possibly the most corrupt political place on the planet.

He said he is disgusted with all of them.
He’s one of the most disgusting ones.
Remember a couple months back when somebody posted that online service that ranks the members of Congress based on how much their stock trades have profited from companies that they specifically oversaw in committee?
Tommy Tuberville’s rating based on that metric was second only to Nancy Pelosi.
You have been had by the most sleazy politician up there, dude.

Jim DeMint is the only one I can recall who self term limited and willingly stepped away early.
Apparently Tubberville and Blackburn think being a governor is more intoxicating.

And he's not even eligible to be governor. All evidence will eventually be produced to show that he's a Florida resident. Utility bills, credit card receipts, etc, etc. But those in power in Alabama will protect him.
