My guess is the years of torment they've received as they struggle with who they feel they are, and a society that isn't always accepting of who they are.
Just a guess though.

The speed at which every bit of this gay acceptance thing has taken place in this country over these past few short years is mind boggling, and I believe will be the real blueprint used to introduce many other things people will use to influence American public opinion and accept. What it's shown me is how very easily America can be influenced to accept that which only a decade or so earlier would have been very unacceptable. Those in favor call it progress and say "all aboard" but it's really less about progress as it is an indicator of just how fast and easy Americans can be manipulated into accepting that which they found unacceptable just a few short years ago.

Love the slippery slope arguments.

It's actually been going on for about 30 years now. The AIDS epidemic in the 80's accelerated it more than anything recently has. The gay marriage ruling was the culmination of it.

I'm in my fifties, and not new to the planet. Its not been going on for 30 years. Just 9 years ago, California of all people, in keeping with every other state that voted, chose to ban gay marriage, and now all of a sudden, it's mainstream acceptability. Most everywhere else, the margin was STRONGLY in favor of banning gay marriage, but that's all but disappeared.

Why does this have to be pushed so hard for such a small percentage of the population?

So that question was already answered for you.
Where?

What did you ask? I'm not going back to look.
In research with 942 nonclinical adult participants, gay men and lesbian women reported a significantly higher rate of childhood molestation than did heterosexual men and women.
Pretty self explanatory. Why would this factor in sexual orientation? Or does it?

It's not stuck in the good ol days. I'm a melinial
nothing wrong with thinking kids shouldn't have these types of worries. I brought in transgenders because when I said it was a broad statement, y'all couldn't seem to figure out what I meant. So again, Things like the OP's topic isn't the end of the world but when combined with all the other BS you're basically trying to live out your political views through kids. The next generation will be even more fricked up than this one.

I'm not sure if there is a correlation there or not, but the majority of gay and lesbian people were not abused when they were younger.

The research sited 46% of the gay men were vs 7% of straight men. Thats a large amount. Women were much less at 22% vs 1% respectively.

Speed as in the 48 Years it took between Loving v. Virginia and Obergefell v. Hodges?

I'm not much younger, and I've witnessed it happen. The gay marriage votes and SC decision have just been the culmination of the acceptance. The late 80's and 90's saw a huge increase of references to homosexuality in pop culture. Gay rights activism started in the early 70's. It's been a slow acceptance.

So, if we let gay people get married, they'll take our guns. Sounds legit.
