This is pathetic. Just like their "Wrecked" series where they desperately tried to blame the state's insurance crisis on everyone else EXCEPT the trial attorneys. Bayou Brief is a joke.

Oh wow. Your math.....

193x4x365= 277,920

Wanna try again?

How many people old wise one do you think a pharmacy in a town of 6000 serves??

Look you guys can contort this however you wish 1.4 million opioid pills is a big arse number in Northeast Louisiana.

I would rather see you saying that Abaraham simply filled the ridiculous number of scripts written by doctors than to try to downplay the number.

According to YOUR own numbers... that’s roughly a 5 year supply for 193 cancer patients at 4 pills a day.

You are correct in that.

STILL a huge number.

What other maladies use 4 pills a day for a year?

Surely the pharmacies had competition too.

I am shocked that many drugs are being dispensed is all I am saying.

He wrote some BS article trying to ties Scalise to David Duke and the klan, and a DC consultant who is also from Louisiana dressed his crap down in an article in Politico and other outlets.

He then starts tweeting like a bitch at her, and of course, any time you go after him and his lies, you automatically hate handicap people.

You're the exact person they're targeting with this article. Someone who sees a big number in contrast to a smaller number and immediately has an emotional reaction while ignoring basic logic.

But why not push for both?

There were several studies that came out in the last 18 months that showed some evidence that combining opioids and medical marijuana improves pain control and reduces addiction, but the evidence is weak at best.

quote:

To me it's a follow the money thing. If he owns a pharmacy that sells opioids but not medical dope, of course he's going to say opioids are better.

Again at the time that he said that the research had not been published. So it is kinda hard to say follow the money. Also if you want to say follow the money, then you have to be very skeptical of the medical marijuana research. Most of the research that show medical marijuana as a the big break through in modern medicine is paid for by medical marijuana industry and it is weak evidence at that. The independently financed research has not been so friendly to medical marijuana. However, because marijuana is still classified as a schedule 1 drug by the FDA trying to get independent funding for research is extremely difficult.

Maybe I'm jaded as I see a huge problem with pill pushers, and pills resold on the street.

Not anymore. Prescribing opioids is such a pain in the arse now that the prescriber almost needs a pain pill to get through it.

quote:

People are dying from pill overuse... no one seems to be dying from smoking dope.

You do not smoke medical marijuana.

It is mind boggling to me that 1.4 million pain pills over even 6 years dispensed in the communities of Mangrum and Winsboro by just two pharmacies is not a huge number in the minds of everybody.

If those numbers are true we need to stop medicaid and medicare reimbursement of opioid prescriptions and make people pay for them out of their pockets.

I am from the area. Those pharmacies serve way more than 6000 people.

It is 5 pills per person per year. That is one days worth of pain pills per person per year. That is not a lot.

Doctors do not fill the prescriptions. The owners of the pharmacies do not fill the prescriptions. The pharmacist is the one that is responsible for filling or not filling a prescription. You did not even know that you were given opioids during your surgery. You are in way over your head here.
