Congrats!
It’s a monetary step some struggle with to make for it puts themselves second
When I left my official visit, I was so impressed that I actually felt dirty for waiting this late to do this. All because of monetary concerns.

My fellow baw,
We did public for 3 years for my oldest. Did 3 years of homeschool with both of them when my youngest was in kindergarten, then went private to get them back in school.
We have some friends that were at the private school with us and their oldest daughter was my oldest’s age and their son was my youngest’s age. This year they begged to go to public, because the private school was too rigorous (it is.).
This is not absent parents that aren’t involved or monitoring their kids. This man is a 100% MAGA baw, moreso than I am.
In the first year his daughter started refusing to go to church and has had 3 boyfriends in her freshman year. I would honestly be shocked if she’s a virgin with the way she dresses and the guys she now runs around with. The younger son is a tad more grounded but has been introduced to furries, trans etc. he has received pictures you would murder your daughter for sending (fortunately told his parents.)
In 6th grade.
I am not saying that is everybody’s experience or public schools are irredeemable. I am not saying that stuff doesn’t happen at private schools as well. It’s obviously extreme. But you are paying a premium to try your best to avoid my friend’s experience.

Meanwhile our pal Plugs et al is trying to narrow school choices for parents. Wants to squeeze the Charter Schools. Remember, today charter schools, tomorrow private schools.
They want control of our kids.
Congratulations! You did the right thing.

we did homeschool 1st 2 years, private school for 7 years, then enrolled in Public school to finish HS years
it's been really good for our kids to experience it all..
they got a great foundation in the early years of reading, writing and discipline
but they outgrew the overly structured part of private Christians schools.
Public schools have been eye opening for them but they are able to handle it's influences
My nephews were homeschooled til high school, they then went to a private Christian school. They enjoyed going to a school and both graduated with high honors, but even that move was a bit of a shocker to them. They would have loathed public school but likely would have graduated Salutatorian or Valedictorian.
You just have to be disciplined in the home-schooling, if you are then it will pay off in the long run.

Don't let them go away to college. That's what screwed up my daughter.

Don't beat yourself up, you were trying to figure out the best way. God's timing is the best timing. It's never too late to put your children first!

Thanks, that’s very gracious

God bless you for making this investment in your children's education. I wish more parents would do the same.

If your Catholics just buy the Seaton Home Study program.
It's accredited and classical education at its finest.
Heavy on the math and the English and literature but very good.
A catholic school could easily jut buy this curriculum in bulk and let the teachers teach it. Lessons would be prepped and they could go home and raise their families.

Again congratulations
It’s a step I have never regretted doing for mine…better people morally grounded for it

I hear them talked about on Relevant Radio. I'll have to check them out.

You made a great decision. No way would I let my children attend public school in this environment.

For non-Catholics, Abeka is a great Christian program, very strong in English and Math. Thinkwell math is excellent and inexpensive, I even recommend it for STEM students. IEW (Institute for Excellent in Writing) is superb for teaching even boys to write well, and it's all videos that mom can use if she doesn't feel comfortable teaching herself.
I've been there, and I've done that. And I wouldn't change a thing!

I don’t stop to add up the amount I’ve spent on private education for my two kids. It’s somewhere in the neighborhood of a starter home.
I haven’t regretted a dollar.
My kids’ friends are a cut above. Their academics are a cut above. Their emotional stability is a cut above. And I don’t have to worry about trannies in the bathroom or militant gays teaching their classes.

We would be better off using drill sergeants teaching from the McGuffey reader than the average public school teacher teaching some nonsense balanced literacy claptrap.
